Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This tour was one of the highlights of our 15 day trip in Northlands. Richard and Tessa were like old friends who made the tour fun, informative and very safe. Our safety was their highest priority and we felt very cared for. My son (12 years) loved it too. They guided us at a relaxed pace and took us to two interesting spots, where we had a great hot chocolate prepared by Richard and a lovely walk around an old pa site. Richard knew lots and Tessa made us feel like old friends. It was a cheaper tour than ones we sourced in the Bay of Islands. The drive to their house was lovely. It was a fabulous half day and we highly recommend this tour.

Full day kayaking with Richard. Richard is very experienced with a great relaxed pace to the day, He is personable, knows a great wealth of local history. If you really enjoy the outdoors, skip Bay of Islands, and instead spend a day with Richard.

This was an incredible kayaking trip. First, the spot where Richard is based is one of the most stunning vistas in NZ. The water is beautiful and the kayaking is fantastic. Richard is a wonderful guide- informative and a pleasure to spend the day with.

Richard, the owner and our guide, gave us a personalized trip. Ready to go where ever and paddle as much or as little as we wanted.

He has lived in the area for 30 years with extensive local knowledge on almost any topic you'd like to discuss. He approached the kayaking with an attitude the stressed safety so if you are new to the sport, you would feel completely safe and well taken care of.

This is an experience that you shouldn't miss. We booked a full day tour and we definitely got our time and money's worth. Richard gave us an in-depth tour of the surrounding beaches and islands (well as far as our arms allowed us to paddle). We had lunch at one of the privately owned beach surrounded by cows! And we even caught a Kahawai with the hand line that was hooked on our kayak. It was an amazing day!

My wife and I had a beautiful morning out on the water with Richard. Even on a half day tour, we were able to stop on an island and two different beaches.
Richard is a very experienced kayak guide and an interesting person. He knows the history and geology of this area, and has some great personal stories as well.
Highly recommended!
