Walking through the gardens at Shanadar park was relaxing and beautiful. Be sure to go up on top of the little building inside the park to the left for a great view of the park and surrounding area.

Shanadar park is south of the Erbil Citadel,behind al-sawaf Mosque.it was constructed according to a modern design and contains several play areas for children,A hall for local art exhibitions built in the form of the renowned shanadar Cave lies at the center of the park.

This is a large park with among others a viewing tower and a small lake. It is probably very nice in summer, but when I visited on a weekday in December, not a lot was going on.

I really love Shanader not because of it is a park but for its art gallery. Painting and books You can by photo magazine, post card, paining and also sit and eat tea.
