Very interesting place, even though it is under renovations. A great place to visit in the heart of Erbil (Hawler). This should be one of the next Wonders of The World.

The citadel of Erbil is a nice place to visit, it tells about the ancient history of this place. Unfortunately, some parts are closed for the public. The entrance is free

The enormity of this place can't be expressed in a post. The history and culture of this place is amazing. It was part of my trip, however I couldn't resist.

This a great historical citidal and recently has been renovated. From Chegizhan to Hulagu and many other emperors have lied siege on this citidal. Perhaps the latest dictators to conquer was Saddam Husein but citidal continues to survive as a Kurdish city.

The Citadel is currently undergoing work, but its beauty is a must see! Wear sunscreen! And make sure you visit the nearby museums...the rug museum and gem museum were a lovely delight

When I arrived at customs they asked if it was my 1st visit and then welcomed me to Iraq. Very safe if not the most exciting place to be.
