This place looks like like a village in a cowboy film, sandy road, small houses, a cute church in the middle of the village and horses with wagon on the street. The church is not really exceptional, full of local, the virgin Mary statue on...More

A strange strange place. A village dedicated to worship and pilgrimage. A place that looks like it transplanted itself into cowboy country US... wide sandy streets, hitching posts for horses everywhere. Enjoyed looking at a horseman being served a beer while on horseback on the...More

This is a church, not really a hermit, in the middle of a dusty town where the streets look like remnants of the Wild West, dirt streets , no side walks and plenty of dust and horses. Parking near it is difficult and on weekends...More

Being in the "aldea" transported me 100 years ago. Sandy streets, were horses and "caballeros" ride in freedom. Tall bars in the street were they serve drinks to take on the horse. Beautifull "cortijos" (andalusain houses). Is worth the visit, do not miss it if...More

This village was amazing as it was like stepping back in time. With its sandy streets and hitching rails it was like the Wild West at the turn of the 19th/20th century. The cathedral was sensational candles were lit and the heat and smell from...More

Very pretty inside. Nice outing for family. This is a major site for many people in Andalucia, as the Virgen housed in the Ermita is much loved and important in the local culture. If you are in the area, it is someplace you will enjoy.

Amazing place of pilgrimage, in a bizarre 'wild-west' town with sand for streets. When we visited there was an amazing mechanical nativity scene

Small cathedral, with beautiful altar. It was within walking distance and was well worth the stroll. There is a meadow along the roadway, with many horses grazing, plus it was mating season for deer, so there was a lot of male deer calling their potential...More

The Ermida is a white fresh oasis of sanctity and peace built into the middle of a dusty little town called El Rocio. El Rocio is so picturesque with its horses and sandy streets that it looks like we’re back in the Wild West in...More
