My guide Ewan did an amazing job guiding me on this trip in some challenging conditions (snow and strong winds). When it was sunny, we were quick to get out and take advantage of the conditions and getting close to the pass. Then a storm came in and we headed back to the Caroline Hut, a phenomenal location looking directly at Aoraki / Mt Cook and the Tasman Glacier. Had fun playing cards and swapping stories. Then enjoyed an incredible descent towards the valley. I thought Ewan and Alpine Recreation did an amazing job preparing me for the trip, and, using good judgment under some difficult conditions. I'd highly recommend doing a trip with them!…

Thank you for taking the time to write this review. You did indeed experience some challenging weather conditions, when it is supposed to be summer! However, I'm pleased you were able to experience the majesty of Aoraki/Mt Cook in both sunny and stormy conditions. It certainly is a mountain that commands respect! Being able to tap into the experience of a guide such as Ewan certainly enhances the whole trip.

Alpine Recreations Introductory Climbing Course is the perfect introduction to mountaineering for beginners. We spent 6 days at their privately owned 'Caroline Hut' in Mt Cook National Park. The hut overlooks the mighty Caroline Face of Mt Cook, a stunning sight as we set off each day into the mountains. The course was excellent, each day we learned new skills to enable us to travel safely in the mountains including roping skills, glacier travel, crevasse rescue and ice & rock climbing. The course culminated in an ascent of Turner Peak and with the help of our excellent Guide Wolfgang, we made a successful summit. After completing the Introductory Course, we immediately signed up for an Intermediate Course, which was equally fantastic. Would highly recommend Alpine Recreation if you are looking for adventure and fun with mountain professionals! Tracey & Chris…
