Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Visiting the iSite for things to do while the mountain was closed this museum was described to us as "better than it sounds" by Rose at the iSite. Well when we got in there we were bloody well impressed by this little museum.
Entering to displays about types of soil (allowing you to touch all different types of dirt) it just got better from there. There is a very difficult digger simulation that had us enraptured for at least and hour, a giant shiny red tractor, a cow model that has me very confused about how cows work but had lots of colors and lights, and a great little model mountain hut. Lots of videos round the place to watch that were all pretty good though would sometimes play super loud scaring other visitors (which was also pretty entertaining).
We spent close to 2 hours here and probably only managed to read half of the displays. There was lots of really interesting stuff, allowing you to skim past the stuff that doesn't get you going. Good range from a bit of the past, to whats happening now with agriculture, mountain sports, farming and hunting. I learnt lots of facts I can't wait to bring up at parties. Would highly recommend for a rainy day

It's more information than museum - lots of educational stuff about agriculture and dairying. Well explained, lots of short professionally done videos that explained the science of agriculture and how they are dealing with salination, irrigation, stocking rates etc. Kids will be fascinated about what cow pee does to the soil and what can be done to minimise the nitrogen build-up that happens with heavy dairying use!
There is aslo a good section about the historical development of the Mt Hutt skifield, again it's well explained and well put together.
We happily spent a couple of hours in the Centre, very good value for just $10. Nice little souvenir shop / information centre as well.

This sadly under-used attraction is well worth visiting for a hour or so in Methven . Perhaps on a down day when the ski field is closed. It sets out in great detail the two main economic drivers of this small town - that of agriculture and the winter skiing. Many hands-on displays and informative exhibits tell of the local farming types, and the history and development of the nearby Mt Hutt Ski Field. As a New Zealand citizen, I even learned things. Ideal for families and school groups as well.

We visited the Centre on a rainy afternoon with my 5-year old son. Although it is quite small, all the displays are very well put together and informative. We spent almost 3 hours there and learned a lot about the Canterbury region and its amazing agricultural and alpine activities. Lots of interactive displays to keep the kids entertained.
