Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Such a brilliant trek out with Peter! Even though I've lived in the area for a couple of months the scenery blew my mind and was great having a guide to explain all the native plants etc! Couldn't recommend this enough to anyone who can ride a horse! Susie was the perfect horse too thanks for a great morning Peter!

From the start to beginning the host was such a delight! I had booked this two hour tour for me and my partner (inexperience horse riders).
The gentleman was patient with us both, and made sure we and the horse were happy through out the journey. He also gave us a bit of space to enjoy the views.
The ride through the creek was beautiful. Everything about this day was a completely Joy, if I'm back in the area i will 100% booking another ride. Don't miss this little Gem. (Also it was pretty cheap for what we got)
Thank you again!

We had a great day today! The horses were great, very skilled in managing the rough river bed, and Pete was such a cool guide. The scenery was beautiful, never have ridden in such a place before. He took just the two of us on a two hour ride, and we had the best of times. Also the full galop at the end was great..
Can recommend to anyone who has (some) skill as a rider and does not want to do a touristy trek in a big group. The tours are catered towards individual skill!

Has to be one of the best things I did in 2014. Such an amazing experience, beautiful scenery, beautiful horses. I've ridden for years at home in the UK but nothing compares to this!! Thanks for a great trek Pete. Really memorable - even a year on!

I owned horses for many years and loved riding. But sadly, my life circumstances meant that I haven't had the opportunity to ride for many, many years. With a landmark birthday looming, I decided that horse riding in the Waitaki Valley would be the perfect way to celebrate my birthday.

Peter at Stoneridge was more than happy to book me in for a 2 hour ride on the morning of 4 February. And it didn't matter that there was only me coming along.

Gale force winds weren't enough to make me rebook the ride for another day. The horses were exceptionally well behaved and didn't put a foot (hoof) wrong throughout the ride. We went through farmland and then into the river valley area. Rugged scenery and an amazing river bed kept me entertained throughout the ride.

All too soon we the ride was over and we were back at Peter's property. I felt totally invigorated by the wonderful experience of being on a horse again. I'll certainly be going back to relive the experience!

Went for a ride with Peter the other day and had a great time on his horses! They are real horses like someone else has said on here, none of your nose to tail trek ponies. Also the route is quite amazing and Peter is a cool guide, he took us through the riverbeds and some of the bush! A real experience you don't get with the bigger places. If I'm ever passing back through Kurow I will be sure to visit again. Price was $90 for 2 hours (though I'm sure we were a bit longer) and really worth it if you enjoy riding. There are also longer and shorter option available. Just do it! - Jamie 27 UK

We've just returned from a 2 hour trek with Peter through beautiful and rugged New Zealand countryside unlike anything we could experience in the UK. Terrain consisting of farm land, steep slopes and boulder strewn river beds, which I would be cautious to walk on, our mounts confidently negotiated giving us a thrilling ride. Peter pointed out huge damage from storms in June last year and his keen eyes picked out a number of wild pigs on the mountainside. We hadn't taken a camera but Peter had his with him, took some photos of us and emailed them to me. What a star!

Loved it! The horses and materials are in great condition. Our kids loved the short ride in the paddock. My friend and I took a longer ride through rivers and over hills. Fantastic! Suitable for people with little and lots of experience. Highly recommended.
