Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The four alpacas are adorable and friendly. We saw paradise chickens and walked in a beautiful environment!! When we reached the river it looked like heaven on earth. Bring a camera of some sort and insect repellent before you go. The sandflies will love you when you've dipped your feet in the river.
I'm not sure If I have met nicer people. The couple who owns the place are angels! I RECOMMEND going there with family, friends or possibly alone if you want.

Visited Alpaca Walks because I had some time to spend before I had to take the bus from Geraldine. Absolutely lovely! The alpacas were very sweet and I got to walk them around and along the river. The host was very friendly and told me a lot about alpacas and New Zealand. Alpacas are sooooo soft, so afterwards I immediately bought an Alpaca wool scarf in Geraldine! Would definitely visit again!

Alpaca Walks is a new enterprise, set up by Mike and Nicola in November 2016. They have six alpacas, although we walked with four - Pinto, All Natural, Ferrari and the cheeky Fernando. Very personal service and lots of interesting information. Nothing was too much trouble. You can interact with the alpacas - they are real characters but Mike and Nicola explain all about their behaviour so you feel comfortable with them.

We went on an hour's walk through local farmland down to the river (alpacas love rivers!) and it was great. The footing can be a bit rough so wear suitable footwear. Be aware the alpacas can spit (usually at each other but you can get caught in the crossfire) so wear something you don't mind getting dirty. Alpaca spit is not nasty like camel spit - mostly vegetation and not a lot of it.

Facilities are very basic but we found it all charming and couldn't have asked for better hosts. Support a new business and give them a go.
