This was one of my favorite things we did in NZ. Steve was a great guide and the alpacas were funny, cute, sweet and each had their own personalities. The llamas were an added bonus. If you’re an animal lover do not skip out if you happen to be nearby. Thanks Steve!

Really informative, interactive and engaging tour. The owner Jill kindly shared heaps of knowledge about alpacas and llamas with us. Everyone loves feeding these cute animals too. Overall an impressive experience, definitely worth a stop.

You have to visit here if you are near Fairlie!! We got up close and personal with the alpacas and llamas, feeding them and getting to see their amazing personalities! We were so lucky because there were heaps of babies as well. They are so cute and soft, it was such an unreal experience to interact with these magnificent animals. Also, the host Jill was so lovely and passionate and we learned so much about them. I will definitely come back and I highly recommend this tour!

We stumbled across this farm on our drive to Lake Tekapo and knew we had to stop in. Best. Idea. Ever. For just $20 you get to tour their farm and meet 75 amazing Alpacas/Llamas and you even get to feed them and pat them! The staff are so lovely, friendly and welcoming and clearly love their animals. They even provided good information for places we should visit for the rest of our trip. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND! You won't be disappointed.

We had some time to kill as our next destination was raining heavily, after some searching we found this place - it was actually abit of a backtracking but so totally worth it. The friendly guide - Jill shared many informations on alpacas and llama with us as she led us through her farm to where the animals are. (Boots are provided to change into for fear of stepping on undesirable stuffs)

We were quickly surrounded by the alpacas and llama once stepping into the fence area - thanks to our guide shaking the treat bucket loudly. Animals were all very cute and friendly (some greedier than others). There were sheeps as well and they will all come over quickly to get treats from your hands - plenty of opportunities for photos.

The souvenir shop sells really cute socks and other related things at very affordable price. And the owner's very cute dog may appear for a cuddle too.

Definitely a place to visit if you have the time and love animals interaction.

We went as a group of 4 adults and honestly had so much fun on this farm tour, petting alpacas, llamas and some tiny lambs, as well as their little dog named Tractor.

This is a great place to stop once you've had your pie at the Fairlie bakery, and can head a few minutes up the road to the Gem farm.

Fairlie is about 40 minutes (one way) off the coast road that runs the stretch on the east coast of the South Island, and considering it's a bit of a boring trip between say Christchurch and Dunedin, taking a detour and heading to Fairlie for lunch and a farm tour would be awesome.

We were heading to Lake Tekapo this time, which is about 30 minutes further inland from the farm.

After our visit, we're determined to own a few Alpacas one day!

Visited this on the way driving from Lake Takepo to Christchurch. Jill, the owner, has tremendeous passion about Alpacas and treat everyone of her 81 alpacas as her pets, each with different names. Had a really fun time with the kids feeding thr alpacas and the few sheep there.

Definitely a must do for a family. BTW, it was good to know that the alpacas there were only farmed for their fiber, not for their meat. :)

Wonderful visitors. Yes I really do love my alpacas. Absolutely do not eat them. I'm very happy you had a good time at my farm.

We are a group of two from Hong Kong and had a wonderful experience of llama treks with Paca Shack in mid-August 2014. We took a walk with two beautiful llamas called Fudge and Blaze around the lake in Fairlie. During the walk, Jill (the owner of Paca Shack) kindly explained to us the features of llamas and arranged tea/coffee with some New Zealand special treats which were truly enjoyable. The whole journey took about 4 hours. We are so glad that we enquired about the treks before we arrived at New Zealand as the llamas had to get ready for the treks. Our New Zealand journey, a most animal-caring place, could not have been complete without this close and amazing encounter with the llamas. Highly recommended!
