Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We only went as far as the Bealey Chasm - a quick 15 minute stop on the side of the Arthurs Pass road.
You could also do this as a stop on a full day walk up and back along the Arthurs Pass Track, or as a short diversion at the start of the Bealey Valley track.
Park in the small carpark next to the highway on the left, heading west, walk along the short track to the chasm, and then walk back. There’s about 100 steps, so, it’s not wheelchair friendly, but kids will easily manage this, and there’s some nice rainforest on the way there to the river. A nice short stop.

Relatively short, quiet tramp up the valley. This walk is entirely in the forest, so don't expect to get get big view from this one. Seems not to be a very popular walk, so it's a good break from the tourist traps. The track goes through some beautiful forest before ending at a large river bank. The path does not extend past this point, so go out and back the way you came in.

Really nice and short track, very different to many others we did. We spent altogether 2hours on the track, had a nice lunch spot and explored the rocks and views. Really recommend!

Easy parking spots next to the road and easy access.

This 40-60 minute walk is a great choice to stretch the legs and soak up the atmosphere of the national park. Much less popular than the waterfall tramp, it offer some peace an quiet (on a peak day in holiday season we met less than 10 people on the walk).

About half of the walk is through delightful mountain rainforest and teh other half is over either swamp (boardwalk) or alongside the Bealey river, a delight of cascades and rushing water.

There are some beautiful mosses and lichens to see as well as views up and across to snow capped peaks.

This is a fairly easy walk nestled between trees each way. Good spot to take a break and forms part of a longer track.

This walk is either accessed from the Arthurs Pass track as a side trip or done on its own by parking close to start. Only 1.3k each way and very easy. Ends at a scenic point on the river with a beautiful view of snowcapped mountains. Beautiful photo opportunity.

This is a two part trail in the Arthur's Pass National Park that first visits a nice chasm before further exploring the forested area and valley riverbed. The trail is in good condition, winding through forested area as well as a tussock clearing, providing a nice range of flora and scenery to see and photograph.

The gentle and relatively easy trek begins at a small carpark just across from the historic Jack's Hut. From here you walk first to the chasm, which is perhaps a 15-20 minutes from the carpark. You can then continue to the riverbed which is another 20-30 minutes beyond. We spent around 1 hour 45 minutes, leisurely walking the Bealey Valley Trail and really enjoyed this particular trek, one that we would gladly repeat during future visits to Arthur's Pass National Park.
