Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A little bit of history to look at it. Parking is across the road where you can do the chasm walk. Our quick visit was made better by a couple of tomtits who came to check us out.

The hut has an interesting history and definitely worth a look but the walk from Arthur’s pass is the main attraction from my point of view. Well defined track with boardwalks and lots of steps but it takes you a piece of paradise

An interesting historic building in Arthur's Pass is Jack's Hut, It is situated alongside the West Coast Highway, just across from the Bealy Valley Chasm and Gorge Trailheads, where you find a small carpark across the highway as well.

The historic hut was placed at this location in 1909-10. It was the base of early roadman families. Roadmen were tasked with helping to keep the roads clear for carriages. It was later used as a summer residence and place for artists to stay while in Arthur's Pass.

The exterior of the hut is dark green, There is historical information you can read and large windows to view its now empty interior of the hut. Have a quick look at Jack's Hut before continuing your drive onward into the village or enjoy it for a few minutes before/after hikes in the area.
