Broken Tramway

If the Tyndall tramway was working it would easily be a 5-star. The broken tramway did make it a bit more inconvenient heading up and down to the fields from the carpark. It probably is ok for those who are used to it but it was a bit more intimidating as a visitor. We were staying up at the lodge overnight. We were fortunate to be able to get a ride up to the lodge as we had gear and overnight baggage including a sleeping bag. We did consider walking up and was thinking that it would have been hard while being driven up. We booked the catered accommodation at Lyndon Lodge but ended up at the Broken River Lodge a short walk up the hill. The accommodation at the Broken River Lodge was very reminiscent of DOC housing since it was quite tight and packed with lots of people. It came with dinner and a self-cooked breakfast. The office is located by the Lyndon Lodge and has a bucket for tow belts. They do accept chill pass clips. The bottom tow is located above the Broken River Lodge, up the stairway to heaven. The shed on the left of the tow has tow belts if needed. The bottom tow did feel faster than the other places. The bottom tow was on the right side while the other tows above it were on the left. The snow was a bit hard and lumpy in the morning but did soften up over time. The snow was amazing when it did soften. I am a beginner-intermediate skier and it was a nice place to learn how to ride steeper slopes. The Palmer Lodge on the mountain had food and drinks available as well as a nice outdoor area to watch the ski area. It was a really enjoyable place to ski since it wasn't too busy and I was able to take my time up and down the slopes.

If you are a keen skier, you'll love this place.

Everything a club field is all about, uncrowded, relaxed atmosphere and most importantly fresh natural snow.
