I suggest to combine this with the walk to see the Pinnacles. It's about 30 mins drive further along the coast and is well worth the effort if you want to experience the remote rugged beauty that this area has to offer. We had the...More

The road leading to the light house are gravel ones and need to be taken with care. There is also a long drop toilet at this site. The assent up to the light house is a steep 251 steps, well worth the climb tho with...More

Stunning part of the country with jutting rocky outcrops and turbulent seas. The lighthouse offers impressive views of the landscape, and is worth the hike to the top. Seal colony was a big highlight, and I was fortunate enough to go during seal pup season.

The only thing we didn’t get on our much-anticipated trip to the lighthouse was driving rain and hail: that came later in the day! What we did get was gale force wind, particularly when we reached the top. But the spectacular setting, the scenic drive...More

We drove to Cape Palliser from Lake Ferry. The road was ok for most of the way but it turned to gravel and became only one lane near the lighthouse. There are over 200 wooden steps to climb if you want to see the lighthouse...More

The 252 steps up to the light house are totally worth it to see the fantastic views and get the feel of what it must have been like to work as a keeper in times gone by.

The road in is gravel and challenging but no 4WD needed to arrive safely to the base of the lighthouse on a black sanded beach. We were encouraged to climb the stairs, sheltered from the wild wind blowing on the beach,by a family group coming...More

The last 10km are dirt road but quite passable - we were in a very small car! Well worth the drive, the scenery changes dramatically and it is quite spectacular. Keep and eye open for the seal colonies near the lighthouse. The steps to the...More

There is a rail, but only on one side and the stairs are kind of dodgy. Do a quick google image search of the light house, and there are a couple of photos of the stairs that show the conditions.
