Excellent service, extremely satisfied with the kayak tour to Donut Island guided from Surfsup. It was an amazing experience for the whole family, even though for beginers as my 7 and 10 years old kids who have had lots of fun. Our guides Mauro and Francois were the best, very kind, helpful, and have shown professionalism informing us about the tour, safety guidelines and about the island, the Maori culture, etc... It was one of the best birthdays my wife has had ever!!! I highly recommend this company. Many thanks Mauro and Francois🙌

The trip itself is beautiful, clear waters and very picturesque, got the feeling the company was a bit unorganised and having some difficulty with time management. We were booked in at 2pm, only got given our kayaks and safety briefing at 2.20 and were asked to be back on shore to hand over kayaks to the next group at 3. There could definitely be improvements made to how they stagger the amount of people entering the lagoon at any given time, it felt rather crowded and busy for a place thats under conservation.

Awful. they called us a day before to come to whangamata and do the tour but we live 3 hours away and we booked for a particular day for a reason. Then we we arrived on the day we booked, they said come tomorrow??? The website said if weather conditions are not good we automatically get upgraded to a guided tour for $20 each. As a group we were all prepared for that but it sounded like the tour guides couldn’t be bothered to do that for us. We had to find another kayak tour company and kayaked in the same weather conditions without a struggle. Very disappointed in surfsup with their lack of interest and organisation. Never book with these guys, even if you book far in advance, they’ll most likely cancel on you. This was the third time they cancelled on me.

Kat & Moro are fabulous hosts and we thoroughly loved our kayak out to an amazing island ‘Donut’ island ..(Whenuakura Island) as the name suggests an island with a big hole in the middle that you slip in though a slight gap in the outside into the calm intoxicating centre. From there across to another island with a sandy beach to take a breather and a cruise back to the start beach. Island view reserve.
