This only exists in two places in the world - Portugal and somewhere in Russia. Interesting for children to see little rocks coming out of bigger rocks. And, in the larger field, they can even look for the little rocks that have fallen off. The...More

Before we drove to the “Panorâmica do Detrelo da Malhada”, we had a short stop-over at the location from the “Pedras Parideiras”. So to really understand the fact of these enigmatic rocks, which are called by the locals “Pedras Parideiras”, it is worth to visit...More

We visited the Arouca geopark as my husband loves geology and I find it fascinating, too. This area was part of the jeep tour we took of Serra Da Freita and was unique. The whole area is amazing and beautifully unspoiled, which is rare in...More

As an geological site, you can see the bedrock and the small holes where the "pedras parideiras" are coming from. Unfortunately, there were none on sight: the site is not very protected and it must have gone through extensive plundering. As for the small visitor...More

This place is in a small village, more than the fenomenon of the pedras parideiras which you don't see anything, it is the entourage and the tipical village from that region which is nice to see. House built of stone and the roofs made of...More

Although unique the stones which give birth to other stones, the site is probably more interesting for people who like Geology. For people who don’t have so much interest for these kind of issues is probably a long way to go. Enjoy!

These stones are, so it seems, a unique geological feature. The interpretation center shows an excellent 3D movie with a goos explanation. Don't miss it! The zone has great natural beauty.

Unless you´re really into geological phenonema not at all worth it. Very unimpressive, only a few tiny pock marks on the rocks.

This site is superbly laid out with walkways above the bedrock. The Centre opposite, built within an old dwelling, is a star attraction. A superb 3d film, and a real star in the education officer running the centre. Top feature
