The castle is at the end of the village, and the interior and exterior are really impressive. Only a limited number of rooms are available to visit with a guide (our spoke with strong dialect, hard to understand if you are not the native German...More

So this was our first castle during our 3 week road trip around Germany. It is exquisitely beautiful and the backstory on this castle is what sold us to visit it. Once there, spoken English is a rarity. What cha' gonna do? It's our problem...More

The castle was already closed when we arrived but we walked in the castle area and took some pictures. There is a chapel on the hill, a Neo-Romanesque sepulchre chapel. From the chapel area you have a beautiful view of Mespelbrunn

Lovely peaceful place, this was our second time here. Sadly the paths, and roads were ice covered and the lady of the castle said it was too dangerous to open all that day.

The area is beautiful and we enjoyed the best apple cake at the Hotel Schloss Mespelbrunn. We visited on Friday, May 26th and it was closed. It was a lovely setting.

The castle is interesting but don't bother if you don't speak very good german! The castle is also kind of in the middle of nowhere, we struggled to find anywhere to get a drink / snack.
