Unique fortified house surrounded by water with an interesting history. The town itself is charming, the hotel in front looked charming as well. Parking will cost you 2 euros. It is a short 200 meter walk up to the grounds of the house. You can’t...More

I'm sure it's better if you speak German because the tour is not in any other language, but it was pretty cheap and cool to look at anyway. You have to park in a public lot about 10 minutes down the hill, but the caretakers...More

More a lovely renaissance country house than a full scale castle. A moat full of trout and nestled in the Spessart forest. Some interesting furniture and glass - all on a quite modest scale. Lived in by the descendants of the original family so large...More

The castle was already closed when we arrived but we walked in the castle area and took some pictures. There is a chapel on the hill, a Neo-Romanesque sepulchre chapel. From the chapel area you have a beautiful view of Mespelbrunn

Lovely peaceful place, this was our second time here. Sadly the paths, and roads were ice covered and the lady of the castle said it was too dangerous to open all that day.
