About
Sibu Wildlife Sanctuary is a 50-acre jungle reserve and wildlife sanctuary located in Nosara, Costa Rica. We provide care and rehabilitation to orphaned and displaced wildlife, specializing in golden mantled howlers. Our goal is to ultimately return them back to the wild through our step down release center. We also provide permanent, enriching sanctuary and ongoing care for wildlife that, due to psychological or physical injury, it is not possible to release back into the wild. Sibu Wildlife Sanctuary is currently closed to the public due to the risk that COVID-19 poses to the animals in our care, however we need your help and support now more than ever. Visit our website to donate, symbolically adopt a monkey or learn more about our volunteering program!

Very small - limited access

Educational but not what we'd expected. We'd been to the Osa
Animal Refuge Center in the southern part of the country - it was
large with many animals.

A day in the jungle

Vicky the founder of this marvelous place has not lost her spark to talk a out it for more than 15 years.
She is so excited about every single details that belongs in that sanctuary from a tree leaf to a newborn monkey.

She teaches you a little about plants and trees and also about the animals in her daily life and hoe she tries to get them back up to their feet.

I thought it was very inspiring and the money and time spent are definitely worth it .

Please donate for a good cause 😅

Favourite part of our Costa Rica Trip

What a wonderful morning with the team at SIBU. Just two of us, we had a tour of the property, lessons on their history and the foilage. Loved the sampling in their garden, and got so much joy watching and meeting all the rescued animals. You can't hold or touch them, but its still so enjoyable to watch them play freely at the sanctuary. THANKS for a wonderful visit. Would absolutely recommend as well as remind you to wear insect spray!

An incredible sanctuary an incredible mission
Feb 2019
If you are lucky enough to grab a visit here, it is so well done, you'll be delighted. Vicki has an incredible mission and philosophy regarding the animals in her care. She has figured it out. I can say this because I work at a sanctuary in CR, and have visited most in the country. This project was one of love, she did it mostly all herself. SIBU is not a zoo which is why it's isolated in the forest in hard to get to Nosara. Once at the sanctuary, it is 4x4 recommended. Vicki has done an amazing job with very limited resources but a lot of determination. My favorite sanctuary, including the one I work at a few hours away. She needs a full-time vet and donations will ensure she can receive some critical care monkeys because she knows what she is doing.

Educational trip
Feb 2019 • Family
It was a great experience to vist the Sibu sanctuary. Vicki and her team of volunteers are doing a great job for the animals. If you love nature, animals and has a big heart, I advise you to come as a volunteer for a month or more, to live at the paradise, best surf spot and take care of small babies .

We enjoyed our tour and overview of the efforts of Sibu to help the local howler Monkeys. The trip was educational for our children and helped raise awareness about our favorite Costa Rican animals.
