Take a break from the hectic Queenstown streets with this trip into the mighty Southern Alps. Spend the day at Mount Cook Village, nestled in the shadow of Aoraki Mount Cook, New Zealand’s tallest mountain. Enjoy free reign to set your own schedule, whether it’s hiking around the Alps, speeding around in jet boats or learning more about the mountains at Sir Edmund Hillary Alpine Center.

By far, the best hiking track I’ve tried so far in New Zealand! It’s about a 3-hour return, might take longer if you’d want to sometimes stop and take all the beauty in or take photos maybe. The track is quite easy, barely any incline or rocky, steep steps. And the view is just BREATHTAKING. My favourite are the views along the long, wooden plank with the view of the snow-capped, majestic, Mt Aoraki. The best during a clear, cloudless day! ❤️⛰

We always do this walk when in the area. 10 kilometres round trip on a well formed track with swing bridges, boarded walkways and with the most spectacular views. We were again lucky with the weather and enjoyed our lunch at the glacier lake with uninterrupted views of Mt Cook.

Amazingly beautiful track! Swing bridges we’re awesome. Don’t miss out on this fantastic experience if you’re in the area! We saw an avalanche, which was a once in a lifetime experience.
