Ordered three Chicken Bacon burgers with fries and coffee’s. We were over charged $40, the cashier picked up the error and refunded us in cash (we had paid by EFT-POS). There was no bacon in the burgers and on closer inspection they had “bacon jam”, so actually had no bacon. They tasted strange, like they had Indian curry in them, not what we expected. The fries were good, but were let down by the cheap generic tomato sauce. Coffees were excellent.

One stop shop for all your berry needs! That’s what we are looking for.
Facilities are excellent and comfortable from the hot summer sun. Staff is also friendly and helpful.

Don’t expect full menu range this is a focus on the berry, so while you will get fries and ice creams the breakfast menu is restricted to waffles and toasted sandwiches.
That being said - this is a fun place for the family. After picking loads of delicious berries you can play mini golf, connect 4 or go to the petting zoo. You can even get a full family photo done as bees!
Come prepared with energy and sunscreen.

Enjoyed lunch here with lovely berry pancakes. The place was very busy over the summer break but service was still fast. Unfortunately I didn't get the chance to pick any berries but they have plenty on sale if you want to purchase.

Whilst staying at Awakeri Hot Springs we decided to visit Julian's Berry Farm for an ice cream! Very delicious assortment of berry flavors! You also get to choose the sort of cone you'd like as well! Julians is situated on the main road towards Whakatane so if you're passing by pop in for a nice cold berry ice cream! They have a seasonal pick your own berries + a petting zoo & playground for the little ones! Give Julian's a go you won't regret it! 👍

Loved the food from the cafe, particularly the strawberry sundae and berry ice creams. We also purchased jams and preserves from the shop to try at home. Very busy but enjoyable. Pick your own fruit is also available. Lots of activities for children. Loved the place!!!

We were very impressed at this awesome place. There is a cafe, berry icecream, farm animals to pet, minigolf, playground and of course pick your own berries. We will be back again.

Family-unfriendly, a bad, chaotic layout, overpriced with dirty toilets. Very disappointing.

I drove over from Rotorua to meet the family at the place as we'd decided to go fruit picking & grab an ice cream. Both my kids have severe food allergies and we have to prep our own food. Wanting to feed them before we head in, we tuck ourselves under a tree at the back of the car park. Took about 30 secs before a wandering teen in a hi-vis bluntly delivered a lecture about 'you can't just sit down and have a picnic.... we have a kitchen bla bla blah'. I mean... we were under a tree in the car park ffs and kids would have been fed in 5 mins before we came in and dropped a ton of money on fruit.

Not off to a great start.

So, we waste 45 mins packing up, heading to a local park, feeding the kids (done in 5 mins) and I would have considered that an end to a poor customer experience ..... but the kids were set on ice cream and berry picking, so we (I) begrudgingly returned.

Place is trying to fit too much in (for the $$$ I'm guessing). It was kinda chaos. No clear customer flow and no signage to help (certainly not clear enough for the number of ppl there).

First thing I worked out was the pre-picked & packed fruit at the door was way less than the Pick Your Own option....bizarrely so. 2x 1kg packs for $20 Vs $20 for a 1.1kg PYO punnet, despite the implied free labour implied with PYO, which kinda grated.

We mulled over the logic of that over some some ice creams which were actually not bad, despite the wife having to run after the server as she was only (continuously) scanning half the seating areas for our number. We got them before they started melting.

Place seems to be run by college kids who, whilst hard working had zero desire to engage with customers above and beyond the basics. ... let's say 'cold but functional' and would benefit from some more training.

We finished up, decided by this point we were just going to grab the cheap pre-picked option and run. Hit the toilets and they were a mess..... there's obviously no systems in place to keep on top of them when busy.

Headed back out to the shop where there was a huge queue of people waiting to pay for their PYO and / or pre-picked fruit & have it wrapped, at which point, we just cut the experience dead in it's tracks and headed home, grabbing fruit from somewhere else instead (and even cheaper).

Experience was probably initially soured by the blunt, unfriendly and inflexible approach to the basic act of allowing another human being to feed their kids (and once again... this was the back of the car park ... we weren't whipping out a picnic in the middle of the restaurant).... but it didn't get any better.
