A relaxing stroll along the river walk on a fine day is hard to beat. Lovely views. A walk equal to some of the best to be found anywhere.

Walking beside the water is one of the most relaxing and enjoyable walks, to have boats coming and going, sculpture and beautiful views adds another dimension. Can highly recommend this walk, for exercise, for Family fun, it's an underrated part of Whakatane, ironically if we were on holiday in Europe this would be on your to do list!

A great way to spend an hour or two walking along the side of the river. Pathway meanders through a park, past a miniature railway and camping ground on it way into the CBD. Even at night we felt safe and secure using this walkway. A credit to Whakatane.

Always a delightful walk every time I visit. Plenty of room for walking, cyclists and dogs. Well appointed with seating, parks, loos, playground and doggie doo bags. Very near restaurants cafes and shopping.

This is a well-used path and cycleway along the river, passing the campsite, town centre / CBD and finishing at the sea. There's plenty of seats along the way, and the whole path is lit, so it's safe to use at night.
