The town of Whakatane have done a wonderful job building this river walk. It takes you right along the river through town for many Kms. There is lots to see along thr route

Went for walk it was very good but boring as well, awesome scenery but people with pets can be difficult. Pets should be restricted or should be chained

Set right on the banks of the river its an easy stroll. Watch out for the local waka team training along the shore and the many sea birds

I cycle the length of the walk two or three times a week. People, pets, cycles, and a nice view of the Whakatane Heads in the distance.

A peaceful walk alongside the river with places of tranquility and places of busy fun. Whether you want to jog, cycle or walk there's room for everyone and with plenty of action on the river there's plenty to watch.

Rent a bike and ride down the river walk. It’s a flat and easy ride. The bike rental is only $10 available from the I-site building. There’s a few historical sites you can stop and see and easy access to Ohope beach.
