Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great historic lighthouse, managed by the KNRM. Be on time, opening hours Friday evening 5-7pm and in the summer months Sunday 11am-1pm (look for the sign). Great view over the dune reserve and the lake. On Tuesday evenings there is an exercise, a lifeboat trip on the beach.

Since the 1980s when satellite navigation became possible, the Egmond lighthouse built in 1834 lost its significance. However, some ill-equipped vessels still use it as a marker.

After the Dutch king's failure to repress the revolt of the Belgians in the 1830s, it was decided to dedicate the Egmond lighthouse to Jan van Speyk. He was a Dutch naval officer who blew up his gunboat including most of the crew when attacked in the harbour of Antwerp. Van Speyk also has a record of brutal action against revolt in the Dutch Indies (now Indonesia).

The lighthouse in Egmond aan Zee is open only on Sunday, between 11:00-13:00 o’clock.
The time of visit it’s about max 30-35 min.

The stairs upstairs are tight but safe.

Inside some information about the history of lighthouse and upstairs you can find a person who works there. That’s quiet interesting to look through his eyes at the sea.

Please, for your own safety, respect all the rules at this place.

€ 2 per person- good price for such a Beautiful view and nice experience.

This lighthouse is a monument for J.C.J. Van Speijk, but was already a lighthouse when the monumental base was added. During summer and on special occasions, it is possible to visit the lighthouse and enjoy the wonderful views of Egmond aan Zee.

The lighthouse looks beautiful during the day, but I recommend to come back at night. They have done a great job with the lighting and it is perfect for a nice picture. We had the luck to be here with fog as well, making it even more impressive.
