Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Short walk on the ramparts of what remains of Guardamar Castle. Very clean and maintained site which allows you to have a view of the city on the sea side but also on the mountain side. Pleasant for a short walk

I may have been a bit harsh giving just 3 stars, the fort was free to enter after all. There is a small car park just outside if you choose to navigate the maze of one way streets to drive to the top and ignore the signs pointing to the castle when the road at the top is blocked.

Basically the castle is just ramparts and a viewpoint now. There's one old cannon that is completely our of period and a couple of information boards. The museum/display room was locked when we visited.

Worth the short walk uphill to the Castle. Interesting storyboards with history of the castle through different time periods.
Newly paved footpaths within castle grounds.
Free entry

I don't know how many times I have driven past this fort on the way to/from La Mata and Alicante airport but this trip I said to myself that I'll make a visit.
It looks quite imposing and a tough walk when you see it from the road but in actual fact it's a very easy walk through town and you don't realise you've reached your destination until you are on top of it.
There is an information office which was empty when we arrived in October but there are a couple of information displays within the walls. And that's pretty much it. The views too aren't great, the town is completely built up on the sea side of the fort and the aforementioned road is on the other side. It really is a completely underutilised resource. It's free to enter though I suppose.

Worth the walk up the hill for the stunning views. Not a lot remains though. Castle walls and one gun!! There is plenty of information on the history of the castle on plaques on the wall and a rebuilt turret has an information talk on during opening hours. Watch your step as a lot of dogs must be walked around regularly!!!

I'm a resident in Guardamar and every weekend when I suggest a walk to my boys they always want to go to the castle.

It's free, on the doorstep, a piece of local history and offers beautiful panoramic views.

Okay, the castle is only partially left after being destroyed by an earthquake but there's more to it than the ruins.

How can people complain at a free attraction?

A real shame it can't be restored, but you can imagine what it must have been like, the views are stunning.

Overlooking the town of Guardamar this ruin was the fortress of Guardamar from the 14th century. Destroyed by an earthquake in the 19th century it is now no more than a shell. It does however still give the impression of how important it was. The views from the top are spectacular overlooking the countryside for miles in either direction and also a commanding view of the sea approach. The destruction and abandonment of the fortress took place after the 1829 earthquake. The inhabitants moved to the valley to a new town with antiseismic architecture as a result. Be warned there is a climb to the top. Entrance is free.

Not much to see here but great views. It is free entry and has limited information on site. We enjoyed it though.
