I thought I was going to visit yesterday but when I and my friends approached the front door just after 2pm yesterday we found it guarded by a most unhelpful woman. She quite rudely announced the museum was Cerrado and pointed to her watch explaining...More

This is quite an odd museum. The Timple is a small guitar native to the island similar to a Ukulele. There are a number of examples on display including one made of a cigar box. You then move on to a display of small stringed...More

This is a fascinating museum - not just for its extraordinary collection of timples (like guitars) but also for the building within which it is housed. It is almost a step back in time as you wander round the courtyard and wooden clad rooms. The...More

For anyone with an interest in stringed instruments, this is a 'must visit'. It is easily reached by bus from Costa Teguise and is a lovely old building. It would gain an extra star if it had been signposted and if there was an/some examples...More

Thought it was a local history museum, so paid a vist. Sadly there were only lots of musical instruments. Museum has a nice courtyard to have a rest. Don't forget to look for a cool ceiling in corridors. ;)

I didn't know what the timple was until I visited there. I am an ethnomusicologist and I am generally interested in the organology of stringed instruments. Here you will find out about the origin of the instrument and its counterparts. In addition to the timples,...More
