The castle seemed special because it overlooks the town of Wertheim. You can take a tram up the hill, but it is an easy walk from the center of town. It is described as one of the largest stone fortress in southern Germany.

At the foot of the castle is a small town where the oldtown ahs kept its charm. Quaint shoppes and lovely eateries line the cobbled street. Not as touristy as other German town but quite pleasant enough.
