This beach is gorgeous, unspoiled and super clean, its the 3rd beach in the trek you come to and I think was the best of om and kudos, I went with my mother and aunties, they're in the 60s and 70s so the trek is not strenuous. There is a restaurant on the beach and tge food is DELICIOUS. We were here in March 2020 right before covid lockdown so not many people.

We visited this beach during the beach trek. It was the second beach after the Paradise Beach as we started from Belekan Beach. The beach is very secluded and there is no way to access beach via road. It is accessible via trekking or through ferry. We were able to witness a very nice sunrise from the beach.

This is one of the places of Gokarna that I personally loved. By ferry, it took us around 35 minutes to reach Half moon beach. The beach is really clean and is less populated so you get to have your own private space.

Stayed the second night at Half moon, with the most basic amenity called the bed and nothing more than that! So the stay is totally for an avid traveller who doesn't care about anything and is ready to adjust with everything! There are some shacks that serve food and for people staying back at the beach till 10pm.
There are two ways to get to this beach from OM beach, take a 30min trek with breath-taking views and arrive at Half Moon, or take the 10min boat ride costing 200/- per head in peak hours! I would suggest do both of it on either way!
The stay costs 150/- per night as it's just a bed in a room, food is decent but the best part about the beach is it becomes a private after the sun-set since there is no one at the beach!

Not a very popular beach, certainly not much heard of in other parts of India. This makes this small beach, a interesting place. It takes some effort to reach here, but all this effort is certainly worth it. The beach is calm quiet and perfect for holding hands with your loved one and take a long stroll.
Bon voyage !!

The name itself sounds so romantic. It's isolated beach connected to paradise beach. Small rocky beach with shacks and huts around. Nothing much to do here apart from having good swim and chilling with Beer watching the never ending sea. Far away from city hustle bustle few travelers come here mostly you can see loads of foreigners here rather then local crowd. The water is Blue and clean. I came here trekking from the mountain side. The auto guy dropped us where the road ends and asked us to follow the trail. It was quite dark by the time i reached the beach. You can catch a boat from om beach to reach here directly. Garden beach shack where you can enjoy the Fish Tikka what i liked the most and they have hut's where you can spend night with basic amenity. Just a bed mosquito net thankfully have electricity here. The food is not that cheap tough as it is on remote side. Had spend a night on this beach and what i have is beautiful memories and Blue water beaches. "Limitless and immortal, the waters are the beginning and end of all things on earth" Would love to visit Half Moon Beach if i ever get a chance again.

We came to get away from tourists and found a nice beach full of staring, mute hippies from Europe including a strange naked women on a rock reading a book on her ipad...didnt have a good feeling about it, so we left and stayed in Om beach which still had tourists, but those who speak, are friendly and interactive, less weird and at least dilluted with some local guys. you have been warned.

I visited Gokarna on New year 2012. We stayed at this shack at Half Moon Beach whose owner is Sahil. He is a nice decent chap and serves very nice food. The shack is bang on the beach and is known as the Half Moon Beach. At night it is so so so wonderful that you can see millions of stars and hear the waves crashing at the stones. It was an experience that is described in novels. There is no local crowd there so one can enjoy peacefully and safely.
I just LOVED the place.

From Om beach you have to trek through the jungle. Ask local people for help or follow your gps. On the way, the scenery is extremely beautiful, a view of never ending vast blue sea from a cliff of a hill. This is a very special experience.
The beach is clean, little rocky and really enjoyable if less crowded.

So we were 3 friends who decided to trek from Om beach to Half moon beach. We saw reviews which said it's just a 20 mins trek. So we thought it's so so easy. We were stupid enough from our side to not carry water. So please please get water and snacks. We started the trek at 7am. Somehow we lost out path in the woods. It took us 2 hours to reach the beach. The view while trekking is amazing. But we were 3 girls. And we were hell scared the entire trek because we werent knowing where we are going to. But when we finally saw the beach from a distance after a solid 2 hours of walking and rock climbing, we were ecstatic. So rule no 1, donot miss the path in the woods. 2. Go in the morning, so that even if you miss the path, you have sunlight to guide you. 3. Carry water.
The beach was amazing. Only 3 of us were in the beach. We stayed for an hour there. We were so tired to trek back to OM beach after all the drama of getting lost in the woods. The localites saw us helpless and dropped us back to OM beach in a ferry. On the way back, we saw some dolphins.

How do we reach the beach? Can this be accessed by people who can't walk much? Is there a viewpoint which is visible from the vehicle itself?
Written 1 February 2019
It is only accessible by trek, not advised if you can't walk much.

Hey, i have a question - last year I was in Gokarna in mid October and all huts at Half Moon beach were closed. Will they be open first of November (going back this year) or "some time in November"?
