It was just a smooth and enjoyable experience. We took our 2 young kids to the field and none of us had visited any ski fields before, but it was such a smooth and enjoyable experience from ticket office, rental to lesson instructors. All the staff we have met on the day were patient and helpful, especially with young kids and doing something new for the very first time, "patience" is everything. Ticket office girls had the patience to explain everything we needed to know, rental office guys had the patience with both of my kids to make sure they had the right gears, and lesson instructors Kiera and Joel had the patience for both of my kids, and I kept on seeing smiley faces on my kids through the entire lesson.

We came here on a day trip from Lake Tekapo. A nice scenic drive to get here with great views along the way. Up at the ski area there was plenty of snow, but once again our daughter didn't want to try. She was instead happy just playing in the snow . Looked like a decent place to learn to ski too so it was a shame she didn't want to try.

After going to Cardrona we thought this may be similar, man were we wrong, nothing like it. Definitely for beginners and we wouldn't eat at the store. Pies, sausage rolls and not much else.

A family friendly ski field, with superb views, a relaxed pace and short lines, and great quality equipment at the rental hut. We took three children 10-15 years old and we had a great time.

We just had another stay in Lake Tekapo and skied at Roundhill. We had been a few weeks prior and they had barely any snow that time. It was still fun in a limited way. This time we were lucky it had snowed the night before and so it was perfect. I'm a terrible skier but even I could ski in those conditions! Not many people there so no waiting for lifts and the cafe food had all the options. There is the most breathtaking view of the lake and mountains from Von Braun hut - highly recommend going up there for a mulled wine! This field is easy to get to from Tekapo township and there are levels of slope that are perfect for every type of skier.

Getting there from Lake Tekapo was easy, just watch for the gravel roads which can sometimes be slippy. The drive is an experience in itself as you to explore the lake further.
We arrived at 9am, and had no queues for the lift pass or rentals (though around 10am there were queues, maybe due to the lessons starting at 10:30).
T bar lifts worked quickly and well, and once you got up there, the views were stunning, and the runs fairly long and different.
I’ve skied in Austria before and these views and experience beats it.
The only thing I’d say is that the runs aren’t marked, and even talking to staff there they didn’t know which one was which... however you’re an unconfident intermediate skier like I am, you’ll be fine!
A must do in winter!

This ski field was way too icy. The guy at the front desk was rude and impatient. The blonde haired young man in the hire place is a credit to this establishment.

Visited here last year but couldn't ski due to an injury that happened just before we arrived on holiday. I still reviewed Round Hill from what I observed back then and thought it looked excellent. I got to ski this time and had a great time. The facilities are spot on. Fast service for equipment despite a large volume of customers. We only waited for 15 minutes to be fully kitted out with boots, skis etc. The slopes are immaculate and offer plenty of variety to the various skill levels. Highly recommend.

There is a great platter area which is ideal for learning to ski and the positioning of it adjacent to the car park is perfect for car boot picnics.
The rope tow means that you don't really get a rest between runs however once you get used to it it gets easier.
It is very much a beginners field with only really four main runs but the beauty of Roundhill is the incredible views of Lake Tekapo and the Southern Alps you are afforded on a bluebird day and the unpretentious, relaxed family atmosphere.

Hi! You can arrange transport from the Tekapo village by calling 021520705, the cost is $20 pp return. You are best to wear warm layers with waterproof jacket and pants. Beanies, gloves and sunglasses are recommended too.
