I spent the night in Lake Tekapo travelling between Christchurch and Mt Cook and really enjoyed it. Hiked up Mt John, visited the Church of the Good Shepard and did the star gazing at the hot springs. Lovely stay and worth the visit.

Gorgeous place to visit for the day and have a picnic but not great to stay! The pub is awful the Chinese restaurant awful and so many nicer places to stay! Peppers resort was ok but really nothing special! Lake Tekapo stunning g!

It is winter time in NZ so it will be cold, wet and windy. The bonus is you will see the mountains covered in snow. It's hard to say what weather you get on the day. I was there late April and it was dry and sunny on the day... More
It is winter time in NZ so it will be cold, wet and windy. The bonus is you will see the mountains covered in snow. It's hard to say what weather you get on the day. I was there late April and it was dry and sunny on the day and then the next three days were wet everywhere on the South Island.
