We where looking forward to our night but in the end came away disappointed and all 4 of us felt we paid way to much for what the product is. Being a tour operator our selfs we could not see where there was $143 value in a 2 hour tour that delivered a short bus trip, a hot chocolate and... More

We participated in the Mount John Observatory Night Tour. Lady luck was on our side on 18 April - we had 100% clear skies and were informed by the guides that we picked a good date and year as we were on the ideal point of the rotational axis! The guides and driver are extremely friendly and knowledgeable - they... More

I was in Lake Tekapo during a new moon and was extremely excited about the night tour with Earth & Sky. Unfortunately due to bad weather our midnight tour was cancelled. We were given the option to still go to the observatory for a tour however I decided to change my booking onto the next night as they had an... More

Kia ora, Thank you for your great review! As you will know all to well, we are situated in an Alpine environment with its own micro-climate. Lake Tekapo has very changeable weather as a result of this. It is unfortunate that on this occasion you were unable to join our stargazing tour. We wish to thank you for your kind... More

I joined the Earth and Sky stargazing tour as part of my free and easy tour package. My tour was at 10pm and we met at their office at 9.40pm. Before this I read in detail the comments from tripadvisor and was totally dressed for winter complete with beanie hat, down jackets, heat packs and looked super out of place... More

We LOVED this experience. We went on the Mt. John Night Observatory Tour. I actually timed our time in Lake Tekapo to be near the new moon - less moonlight for better star viewing. Your departure time will depend on the sunset time - in mid-February we had to check-in at about 10:30p. Wear layers as it can be chilly... More

Can be weather dependent but we got an absolute cracker - stars out, moon's out, cloudless sky and you get to look at the moon, planets and star clusters through very powerful telescopes. The guides are also amazing, very informative and enthusiastic, particularly Arthur was brilliant and a chap from Bristol I forget his name but they were really great.... More

If you like the stars, galaxies etc. then this is a must visit place for you. We were lucky to have a clear sky and it was just amazing to watch all the stars, satellites, etc. Small groups and wonderful tour guides. You will definitely enjoy your time.

Was eager for this experience. Booking online was a breeze. I booked the Mt. John Observatory Tour - $148. This included transport to Mt john, a guided tour of the sky including the southern cross, the moon, a few other stars of interest, and lucky for us Saturn and four of its moons. The tour included a very warm jacket... More

Really enjoyed this tour. The guide was very entertaining and the laser to point out the stars was super cool. Be sure to go back up to the cafe in the daylight hours as the views are AWESOME!
