The night tour of The Church of Good Shepard began with a clear sky. It was clear until the moment when we started lining up to take photos. I understand that this is an alpine environment where clouds might emerge and dissipate any moment, but...More

Me and my friend thought about a stargazing tour for a long time.. so there are three companies, we picked the most expensive one because they told us we get the money back if we’re not able to see any stars! At this company they...More

Went for the early 9pm tour. Fortunately we had 60% view and we could see quite a few stars. Unique star gazing experience. Guides were knowledgable and friendly. The hot chocolate at the middle of the tour was great. A bit more time for more...More

An absolutely incredible experience. I say "THE" Stargazing Tour because there is another tour offered Lake Tekapo which does not compare to Earth and Sky. Booked a 1:30am tour, arrived at 1:31am (my apologies) and the staff was extremely welcoming still. We were given a...More

The Earth and Sky Stargazing Tour was unfathomably breathtaking and beautiful, informative, and humbling. I had never seen that many stars in the night sky, nor beauty like that before in general, really. My friend and I booked a late night stargazing session, and could...More

My wife and I booked the late night stargazing session, and it was amazing! You won't see stars and planets in imax hd, like in the movies, but you'll see the real thing through the telescope. We saw mars, alpha centauri a & b, and...More

I went on the Mt John Observatory tour a couple of years ago and absolutely loved it - the staff were keen, the tour was interesting, and the chance to stargaze and look through telescopes in the dark sky reserve was wonderful. Fast forward to...More

We went on an evening tour. We were picked up from our hotel and dropped off. It was very interesting. We all received red light keyring torches as this does not affect the beauty of the sky. It was very cold but we got hot...More

We saw the Milky Way with our naked eye on a clear night February 13th. Just check out a weather website and see what they are projecting. Weather can be fickle - it rained the day before and after we were on Mt. John.

I would recommend the Mt John tour over the Cowan one, It’s a great tour and doesn’t feel long at all as everything is interesting. We didn’t have the moon but didn’t matter as we had 5 planets!
