Compared with most old towns in Spain, Laredo's Puebla Vieja seems run down, with little to offer, both in terms of sights and eateries. The bars are generally more expensive that in surrounding towns, and the food does not look particularly appetising.

We wanted to get to Bilbao but couldn't get transportation on that day so we decided to visit Laredo. What a treat! A small old town with beautiful walks and views.
