I have been to Porto Moniz many times but took my grandchildren last week to swim. I was saddened to see the state of the pools and surrounding walls and the staff in the café. We called in during March and the complex was closed...More

Lovely place however we called here mid November so didn’t access the natural swimming pools but it’s certainly worth coming during the summer months as this place is a little gem.

Ours was only a flying visit on a West of Madeira coach tour. The scenery is unique and the pools look inviting despite the Atlantic Ocean being just over the wall. The pools are like infinity pools and very calm for those wanting to swim....More

It was amazing to swim in these pools, with lava rocks around us and with high waves coming from the sea. Highly recommended!

Even in November with poor weather conditions, this is worth visiting and bathing (if you dare). Excellent view of the waves when you are in. Also worth visiting another one to compare at the other side of the Island in Porto Do Cruz

Done a tour from Funchal and called in here and had lunch. One of the most stunning place I’ve seen. The whole island of Madeira is a one of a kind place. We worth the trip there.

We hired a car from Funchal just for this trip. It took us about an hour to get there, with a straight forward and very scenic route. At Porto Moniz, there is plenty of cheap parking and entry to the natural lava pools is only...More

We stopped here on our tour and I am so happy we were able to enjoy a few hours in this beautiful place. It cost 1.5 euros to swim. There is a place to change, showers, and for an additional fee lockers available. It was...More

We were in a tour group to Porto Moniz from Funchal. It was an adventurous trip but we had very beautiful view along the way. Porto Moniz itself is one of the highlights of Madeira island with its wild Atlantic ocean view. The ocean view...More
