The owner operator - Alessandro - was very uninvolved. Our first meeting with him was 10 days into our two week tour. This meeting happened only due to our group stating our concerns about not having any assistance or guidance with regards to our tour.
The 'my bad' excuses and the promises to not let this happen again in the future did little to help our group.
The 5 tour guides and the driver were wonderful - very knowledgeable, helpful and entertaining. The sites were amazing - all through Umbria and Tuscany. However some of the places took 2 hours to reach and with a 1.5 hour lunch and a two hour return trip - we often had very little time to actually 'see' the sites.
Be careful as to how much wine, water and cappuccino you consume as we were reprimanded that we had more than our allotment (not true).
The hotel has a great deal of potential but was tired and in need of some TLC. The staff are super and the meals were great - amazing breakfast buffet. Our room and the amenities available are also not as advertised.
We had another small group tour in eastern Italy that was amazing. This one didn't even come close.
Would I recommend this company - NO!

This was a FABULOUS tour. We chose the one week Tuscany-Umbria tour. The tours, guides, drivers, and food were all amazing. The hotel was wonderful and the staff was superior. The experience could not have been better.

The cities that Alessandro picked out for the tour were absolutely beautiful. The food and wine were out of this world.

The hotel was a gem with old world charm. The amazing hotel staff were like family by the end of the week. We were sad to have to say goodbye.

I recommend this tour 100%.

We had to cancel and reschedule our trip to Italy due to concerns about travel. During a two year series of email conversations and one telephone conversation we were allowed to move the trip out a couple of times. During the telephone conversation I was informed that the company would require a deposit when we were within a few months of the actual final trip. We were never asked for a deposit payment and never contacted by the company in any way fro more than one year. We assumed that they had gone out of business since we had received periodic communications ongoing in the first year/ year and one half of the relationship. Then, out of the blue, we received an email asking our specific arrival date just a few weeks before the third rescheduled date. We said we weren't coming and Scatto charged us 80% of the trip fees, breaking their own published policy of 40% for the time frame in question. They lied to our credit company and we ended up having to pay the charge. Should we have tried to cancel earlier, yes we should have. Should Scatto reached out to us four months before the trip date to receive a deposit, yes they should have and we would have gladly paid a small fee when treated properly and per their policy. Don't use this tour company

Our group of 6 older women just returned from our adventures with Alessandro on the southern 2 week trip to Amalfi and Sicily. This is our second trip with him. We travelled with him 3 years ago to Tuscany and Umbria and thought we knew what to expect. Well might I say he exceeded all our expectations. From the moment he and Mimmo , our driver, picked us up in Rome we were swept into a whirlwind of food, drink, sights, history, and beautiful lodgings. Our every need was taken care of. We rekindled our friendship and came to know Mimmo as a great friend as well. Mimmo is a very skilled and capable driver. I truly can’t even imagine trying to navigate the roads on our own. A wonderful experience and memories to last a lifetime but that being said I can’t wait to return to Italy again and have Alessandro show us more of his beautiful country. His tours are truly more than the web site promises with little surprises along the wa

Two weeks with Alessandro is absolutely the best way to fully appreciate beautiful Tuscany and Umbria! Our experience was so much more than just visiting the gems of the area. The historical information given by our guide and the stories related to all that we saw brought our historical visit to life. By comparison and any other measure, this is by far the best! There was NEVER a..."oh, another church." Alessandro made each church, town, restaurant, landscape, and site special, unique, and memorable. The personalization and historical context of each site will keep our visit alive with awe and respect for many years to come. Not to forget -- we truly enjoyed our cooking lesson with Alessandro's mother and the Italian lunch she prepared!

It has been completely unacceptable that I haven’t provided this review earlier since a year later we still talk about how amazing of an experience it was and how we want to go back! Alessandro was a great guide. We were on the first tour of the year and can easily see he was a professional who knew the historical intricacy of each region. We were driven to different cities in the Umbria and Tuscany region each day. We were amazed at the differences of each city and how they each were unique and magnificent in its own way. Alessandro was able to answer all of our questions and provide us answers to questions we didn’t even know to ask. One of the best parts was the food, we were taken to different and uniquely amazing restaurants each day. We were able to explore not only the culture of Italy but the food and wine of the area in a way that we would not have experience without Alessandro. We also stayed at his family’s villa after some unseasonably cold weather that broke a pipe in the hotel he planned. This was an serendipitous event in that we were able to have his mom’s Rosalina amazing home cooking and learn more about the Italian culture and what makes it so special. This is the best way to not only see Italy but experience what make it so unique and special. We are looking forward to our next tour with Alessandro and would recommend this 100% to anyone that asks.

A Testimonial about Value

When we spend our money, we expect value in return. Mostly, we are satisfied with the returned value. Sometimes, we are annoyed when the value is less than expected. Then there are rare instances when we received so much more than expected. This was our experience with Alessandro Scattini.

Let’s confirm the Umbrian/Toscana norms: the small, hilltop towns are quaint and lovely; the scenery and views lifted from Italian Renaissance paintings; the food and wine incredibly delicious; the peace and tranquility addicting; the villa where we stayed idyllic, art and history lay around every corner. The residents were friendly and helpful, even when communication was limited by language.

Umbrian and Toscana are magical;

all that we expected.

What we did not expect was elucidation, awe, warmth, adventure, laughter, spiritual awakenings, and tears of joy. Alessandro, his driver, his mother Rosetta, and his father Fernando welcomed us with open arms and open hearts. Alessandro wanted to know us as much as we wanted to know him and his land. He customized our tour as he learned about our interests: St. Francis sites for Jamie and illuminated Gregorian chant manuscripts for Michael. We dined at superb hole-in-the-wall restaurants in tiny villages where Alessandro was so trusted he was welcomed in the kitchen to serve the food. Rosetta took us to the market and gave cooking lessons. In the evenings, we played music, sang, and even danced a bit. By the end of our week, we felt like members of the Scattini family.

The value we received cannot be expressed in Euros nor the memories described in mere words. Alessandro provided a life-altering experience. Put yourself in the hands of this intelligent, caring young man for a week or two. He will provide an experience of priceless value to warm your heart for a lifetime. Mille graze, dear Alessandro.

My wife and I and 5 of our friends stayed with Rosetta and Fernando for two magical weeks. The trip was more than I ever imaged it could be. We got to visit many small beautiful hilltop towns plus larger cities like Sienna and Florence. Our hosts were wonderful. They were very attentive and made sure that our daily arrangements were set and confirmed.
