Central Otago had major flooding and rain which badly damaged the cherry harvest (split cherries). We stopped in for pyo cherries and they were charging $16 per kg (min 1 kg per adult). In my opinion, this was just far too much and were ripping off tourists. Across the road with the same damaged cherries, it was $10 per kg and no minimum. Much better deal and no feeling of being ripped off. As a comparison, Supermarkets sell around $14 per kg. In this day of Covid, be weary of places like this, you can do much better.

Cheeki cherries has been the same price for the past 3 years, we do also offer cherries from $5 per kilo and these are the damaged cherries from the extreme weather we have had in 2021, that is 1/2 the price as the other orchard you are referring to.
Our customers are still picking some stunning fruit and if you and taken your time in the orchard you would have also picked some great fruit. You will also find the cheapest real fruit ice creams in Cromwell and very cheap stone fruit. Cheeki also offers a courier service, picnic tables, kids play ground, tree hut and great customer service
If you want to you could take your family for a day out at the supermarket and buy pre packed fruit and then have a picnic in the carpark.

Brought the kids here after I did PYO in NZ when I was a kid with. This was a fantastic experience with not just delicious juicy cherries but also fantastic apricots and nectarines. We got a quick demonstration of how to pick and then off we went. With the odd taste test, the kids were up and down the ladders and we got enough fruit to sink a battleship. Before we left we rewarded ourselves with a real fruit soft serve which were very generously poured and topped off a wonderful hour or two in the orchard. Everything I had hoped and more. If you’re driving through Cromwell you HAVE to add this to your itinerary.

Grandmother took grandchildren on their annual highlight - cherry picking. This business has new management which we believe is fairly recent but the improvements are very obvious already. Owner was wandering about amongst the cherry trees and he delighted in a conversation as he is an outgoing and friendly chap who obviously has great plans ahead. The crops were great and easy to access. As we departed the premises the 'real cherry' icecream machine was appreciated! The only bottleneck was at the weigh station which needs more of a 'checkout' type arrangement to dodge the many stragglers who were not purchasing and just perusing the wares.

Our welcome consisted of being told off for disposing a coffee cup in their bin - that's fine but the way it was rudely conveyed shocked our visitors from the USA. We were told there were dark and white cherries but the white cherries were almost non existent but nevertheless we had to pick 4 kgs for our group of 4.
While paying , we overheard the supervisor telling a pakeha family that there was better picking at their other plot 200m away. As an asian family this smacked of at the least unconscious bias or worse.
This is my 3rd visit here during holidays but will definitely be my last.

Martin and his partner were amazing. We brought 30 kids over to enjoy the day and they absolutely loved it. We fully recommend.
The orchard is beautiful and clearly very well managed and, even whilst busy at the tills, the staff made us feel very welcome! 100% get a real fruit ice cream too.
Please don't listen to any of the google reviews, it was evident that some customers believe it's a buffet and were even breaking branches from the trees whilst picking, Martin does his very best to maintain this orchard and it was a shame to see people be rather disrespectful.

Actually we picked cherries in January 2022 and did a takeaway...but reason for this review is the REALLY amazingly quick courier service...Son Nick picked them just a day ago and we had them delivered to our front door 18 hours later ..Cromwell to Paihia in Northland. Well done on choosing a great courier company !!

Sure this is an excellent place if you want 1 or 2 kilos plus of cherries. We were 4 adults and a baby on holiday from the UK so didn't want 4 kgs. Staff were polite and friendly but we couldn't pick a small bucket and experience a walk in the cherry orchard.

Arrived and was welcomed warmly. Quick instruction on how to pick the fruit. 1kg minimum per person, $17 per kilo. Great value and fun. We grabbed 2.5 kilo and enjoyed a fruit ice cream.

These are the most amazing NZ cherries. They can be ordered online and delivered directly to your door. I've been ordering for 2 years now and I keep coming back for more! I've tried other cherry suppliers and these are THE BEST. Owners are super helpful and responsive. I cannot recommend these highly enough.
