Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Hamish and team are well worth visiting if you like canyon wall hugging excitement and some high speed thrills and spins. We have tried some of the others and this was the best by far. Just the right amount commentary laced with Hamish’s humour made for an excellent 45min adventure.
Great value for money. Lovely location for a cup of coffee, wine tasting or a meal too. Will definitely stop by when we visit again.

We booked the trip by booking NZ website for 51€ pp, the staff were absolutely wonderful in accommodating us as we had arrived late.
The guy who took us on the trip was excellent and very informative about the river and the gold mining history,
We had approximately 30 minutes of exhilaration, getting up to incredible speeds as he drove through the canyons and spun around 360c. It's is a 35 minute drive from queenstown but there's so much to see on the way and Cromwell is a lovely town to visit

I didn't know what to expect but go with my husband's choice and it turned out to be an unforgettable experience. With life jacket and a coat, we were driven through the Kawarau Gorge which was the gold mining region. The driver will signal us before he did the 360 degree spin and this is the most exhilarating part of the ride.
As I was sitting in the front row, water will splash over me and a towel is provided to dry ourselves. It was fun since the driver will joke with us and after a while, I know it is safe. Do wear a pair of water-proof shoes as mine got wet but it is fine.

This was an excellent experience but not for the faint hearted as you speed along the river at breakneck speed. Oud boat was a little delayed but we were all given a free coffee or tea while we waited so no complaints there. We booked ohr trip through the website Book Me so got a great deal but would happy to pay full price! Drivers of the jet boats are grest too.

An exciting & exhilarating 45 minutes of pure fun. I,m from a family of thrill seekers and adrenaline junkies and am often the one sitting out....however....I loved jet boating and so did they....we all thought it was brilliant. Daniel our pilot was awesome, determined to push to the limit , get everyone soaked & full of very, very good stories,

Bit of a bad start to the day but the guys at goldfields Jet turned it all around in so many ways. The speed of the boat and amazing skill of the driver had my son grinning ear to ear.(he never smiles) The Gorge makes it 10000 times better than a lake ride.

Lovely setting in the Kawarau Gorge, 10 minutes from Cromwell. Less than an hour from Queenstown, easy drive. Great small boat tour, driver caters for everyone on board! Lots of turns from very skilled & safe drivers..fun for families! Heated handrails make the chilly mornings bearable - don’t let the weather stop you.
Great day out to see another lovely part of the South Island. Photos available to complete the experience at a very reasonable price as well.

I used to jet boat a bit when I was a teenager, and was extremely unimpressed by the Shotover Jet - far too touristy, far too safe, not thrilling at all, very impersonal. This one is totally different.
From the start it had a smaller scale, personal feel to it - which I loved. Then the ride itself was far more thrilling - high speed turns, near misses on rocks (deliberate), personal engagement with the travellers - it was all fantastic. My five year old daughter absolutely adored it! She was shrieking with delight - and I didn't stop grinning.
So thank you Sean and team - this has been the highlight so far of our trip.

Simply brilliant ride. Massive thanks to Pete our jet boat driver who was just excellent. Fun and laughter, and thrills without the spills.
45 minutes of pure enjoyment down the gorge through some rapids, with twists, turns, full 360’s and some surprises. Pete had it all under control and gave us rainbows 🌈 too.
Only 4 of us our boat; me and one another, and a dad and his young son but this didn’t stop us whooping and hollering. In fact it gave us a light boat which also gave us some added bounce and air time!
Always felt safe.
We got a bookme nz deal which was just fabulous value.
Only minor gripe is we arrived in good time for our ride but our boat had left without us!
:(
A couple of reasons were given to us by a reception staff member and I’m not entirely sure which one was the real reason...... I do have half an thought that there was an element of over booking involved.
Not sure but all was well in the end after about half an hour wait. Nice surroundings to wait.
At the end there is an option for $30 for 4 lovely photos and these are printed and sent via email which I thought was pretty good too.
We didn’t stay to wander around the Goldfields part of the attraction but what we could see from the door looked pretty interesting.
Plenty of parking available.
I got the impression that a Cafe was reopening soon.
Fantastic surroundings and countryside - an easy 45 mins from Queenstown depending on traffic.
Do give yourself plenty of journey time if coming a distance. Be safe and get there in one piece!

Well worth the visit if your driving past! Cam and Tyla are amazing, cheers for a great start to the day! Scenery is fantastic, and the boating was unlike anything I’ve done before!

Hi:
I just wondering the price, also, is there any discount for students?
Written 17 December 2018
Hi
The price is $125 for 40 minutes.
Sorry but we try keep our prices lower that anywhere else so do not offer discounts unless on already running trips.
