We saw this place whilst traveling to Queenstown and had to stop and glad we did. Very friendly owners and they offer jet boating through the canyon, historic gokd site, wine and food lunch.

Thank you Jamie. As well...we offer horse trekking. So many reasons to pull off the main road and stop!

Very good place to visit. We took the guided tour and it was very informative and Peter the guide was fantastic. Kids had a fantastic time panning for gold.

This was a really different activity for us to do than the normal adrenaline seeking that we do in Queenstown. There's some real history to this place from the gold rushes of the 19th century. There's a walk around the reconstructed village as well as...More

Thank you Ian. For the adrenaline seekers, bear in mind we do have a thrilling jet boat ride through the gorge here as well, if you are ever back this way!

We are glad you stopped too Alicia. Thank you for taking the time to write a review of your experience as well. Geoff is indeed passionate about sharing his knowledge. Glad you found a little something at panning.

It is a fascinating place to see and has a very nice Cafe and Gift shop. The problem is the prices are a little ridiculous for what you get. Need to knock about $10 off the entry fee anf then you would really have something....More

Hi Gary. We sure are proud of our living history. Not sure if you paid the $25 admission and went forth to spend the full 2 hours here, including the 1 hour fully guided tour?? Thank you for your feedback nonetheless.

Peter our guide was excellent. We did miss the start of the tour which was a shame but we were finishing lunch next door at wild earth. We loved the fact that you could gold pan until your heart was content. While our party of...More

This 25 hectare reserve was once know as Gee's Flat.It was consistently mined for over 100 years. Today it gives the nearest idea of how harsh and laborious conditions were in 1880.The Centre has realistically preserved prospecting and sluicing areas and dams and tunnels can...More

Thank you for taking time to review the terrain here. It really is so much better to enjoy the self guided walks, and the fully guided 1 hour tour. That way the story of our gold rush comes to life.

This unassuming site is well worth visiting, and indeed, if you're in Queenstown, it is well worth making a special drive to see and experience it. The staff on their guided tours give an excellent explanation of the gold mining era, and they demonstrate some...More

Cross the bridge from the road over the Gorge, the Kawarau River below. See how they used to live in gold mining times...try gold panning or stop for a bite to eat. The old mining buildings are very intriguing with their falling down entrances and...More
