Interesting walk. We went during the middle of rabbit culling (by vineyard owners?) so the area did stink. Interesting caves. Interesting walking tracks and interesting history.

A really wonderful, but not too difficult walk. To think this was once a thriving and busy gold mining area is amazing!

This was a typical gold mining area where the "rocks" are so soft that miners pumped high pressure water to form the "sluicings" in order to find gold faster. These formations look like crazy cliffs and are worthed a visit. In addition you can visit...More

Bannockburn is my 'home town'. In fact my parents still live there. So we have done this many times, and thoroughly enjoy it. In fact I think we see something different every time we go! A must do if you're in the area.

Bit of a hike up to the Stewart town orchard with a run down cottage but well worth it. Caves on way up that chinese used to lie in. Take a torch. Fantastic views.

This is one of the most interesting and informative walks around. Take yourself back to the heady days of the 1860's gold rush and imagine your self as a prospector, or even more a successful water merchant. Take the small detour to the flushing dam...More

We walked here at lunch on a relatively hot day - it felt like summer. Take a hat, sunscreen and water - while the walk is easy it is quite hot when the sky is blue. There are not many people on this walk which...More
