Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stumbled across Gate 20 Two whilst on a vineyard tour of Central Otago and would highly recommend a visit. The host was very welcoming, letting us walk through the property and enjoy the magnificent views from the back. A small range of wines, but very good, enthusiastically presented and worth the trip to buy.

I had the rare privilege of tasting both Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir under the keen direction of Pauline & Nigel (owners). This vineyard specialises in small run boutique releases of this wine. Their wine maker is well known in the region and they have produced world class wine from this small property.
An amazing location in Bannockburn and right next door to Mt Difficulty. Follow the drive up to a tiny car park and a generous cellar door to a small tasting room.
I've toured most of the Central Otago wineries and this one certainly won me over. The wine is modestly priced for instant take away or delivery. I biffed a mixed case into the back of the car which will see me right for some time.
A worthwhile addition to any wine trail you are doing in this region (and possibly room for your helicopter on the front lawn if you choose that method of travel)

Thank you very much for your kind words and we are glad you enjoyed the wine. The Pinot Gris this year is absolutely stunning and the Noir its the best it has been.
Next time you are in the region, please feel free to visit us.
Regards
Gate 20 Two team!

Wasn’t going to call in here but turns out is the best Pinot I’ve tasted!!! Wow! The cellar
Door is basically the lounge room of the owners so gives it a personal feel. Only 2 wines for tasting but again, best wine I’ve had! We all bought bottles. It says something when the top hotel in the Barossa Valley has this on its wine list. It’s a must

A lovely view but not the most enjoyable wine tasting we have ever had. The wines seemed nice but it was hard to tell with such small pours. Even if they were amazing, it’s not just about the wines, it’s about the full wine tasting experience… so a dedicated room for the wine tasting would have been better than us cramped awkwardly inside the front door in the house hallway. Plenty of potential.

Highly recommend a visit to Gate 20 Two! Set amongst stunning vineyards, this winery will impress even the fussiest critics. The single vineyard Pinot Noir was our favourite Pinot in NZ and the owner was very informative! Nice to visit somewhere that feels less touristy!!

Wonderful boutique family winery which makes the best Pino Noir I've ever tasted. Welcome and personnel wine tasting, you cannot go to Felton road without stopping in at this cellar door.

We came as a group of 16 on a bridal shower. The hosts were amazing, allowing us to taste their 2 beautiful wines and talking us through their history and wine process. Their home is beautiful with the most stunning views. We then purchased a few bottles and sat outside in their yard in the sun savouring their wine and admiring the views while talking to the hosts. I wish we had stayed there longer as the other, bigger wineries we went on to were nowhere near as friendly or welcoming. This was the best Pinot that I have tried. I highly recommend a visit.

... than knocking on the owner’s door and sampling his wines in his home. Beautiful wines with a great back story. Bought a couple bottles at a very fair price for our trip through the South Island. Go for a walk in the Bannockburn Sluicings and then head next door and go up the long driveway to the house. The type of wonderful experience that makes you sign - “only in New Zealand”.

If you are going to do then do it right.
They make just 2 wines and do it well.
Tasting in the hallway!
Made to feel very welcome.
We have been here several times over the years and the wines are always great and the service personal.
No cost to taste and free shipping in NZ for 6 or more.

The one wine i was allowed to taste in their hallway was ok, nothing to shout about. But it was odd to have a tasting in a hallway and we werent made to feel welcome. Had it been the best wine i had tasted that day i woukdnt have bought it in such odd circumstances
