Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Had a very pleasant trip around this winery with a very knowledgeable guide. The wine tasting afterwards was very enjoyable. Free but you must book in advance.

Certain wines stand out as the best in their region...Harlan in California, Gaja in Barolo and Barbaresco, Romanee Conti in Burgundy...and Felton Road on the South Island of New Zealand. Ethereal wines presented by warm, funny, down-to-earth Ingrid in a beautiful room overlooking the vines and valley!

Nice visite of the vineyards together with a tasting of 5 wines (3 Pinots noirs + 1 Chardonnay + 1 Riesling). All of that for free.
The wines were good but too young for our taste (2022 &2021) but all in all a nice moment!

Just what you’d expect from an icon.
Ingrid provided an entertaining and enlightening tour of the winery, explanation of the different vineyards and lead us through a tasting of 2 whites and 3 Pinot’s - all excellent as you would expect.
Well worth the visit.

We were greeted by Roz our wine docent for our tasting and she gave us an excellent review of the Vineyard and the wine process. We tasted three different Pinot Noir, a Vin Blanc and a Riesling. We had heard of Felson from the movie "Seat at the Table." The tasting was perfect.

While having had our fair share of tastings, this was the first time we had a tour of a vineyard and winery.

I have some basic knowledge of vineyard work, having worked for a short while at a vineyard in Blenheim, but this was a very interesting and educational couple of hours.

The tour starts off outside among the vines and we were educated about biodiverse vineyards. I have a new appreciation for what is involved for this type of vineyard and can see there are clear benefits for all in being not just organic, but biodiverse in the approach. After talking about the vines we went to the winery and we’re taken through the process of turning hand harvested grapes into wine. Then we were taken back to the cellar door for tastings.

Very friendly staff who willing to answer questions and not rush the tour. The wines on offer were very, very good. We tried 3 Pinot’s, a beautiful Chardonnay which didn’t taste like a Chardonnay, and a Riesling. While the Riesling and Chardonnay were moderately priced, I thought the Pinot was a bit over priced, however some people may be quite happy paying $70-80 a bottle.

A couple of hours well spent

We booked an appointment at this cellar door and were greeting by the lovely Nicola. We were immersed in the story of the vineyard in quite an intimate setting where we were free to ask as many questions as we like. The wines were very good and were each accompanied by an informative story. The wines alone were great, but Nicola raised the experience immensely. Helped along of course by the very friendly cat that guarded our laps and only required the occasional pay to keep her happy.

We were greeted by Sarah who explained the expantion of the winery through the years and the different plantings.
We then enjoyed a fabulous tasting and we're honoured to have a half hour chat with Nigel, the owner who has a great knowledge of not only the history of Felton Road Winery but also the history of the total area and it's place in the Otago gold industry.💯👏💥

Fantastic wines served in proper glasses in a lovely environment. A booking was required but we made ours less than 30 minutes in advance.

There is no better way to experience Bannockburn wines. The experience, guided by Ingrid, couldn’t be better. So much knowledge on all aspects of the wine making process. The wine speaks for itself. If I could give more than 5* I would.
