What a fantastic day. Regardless of your knife making capabilities, Stephen and Robyn (complete with a smile and brilliant sense of humour) will have you leaving with a beautiful knife. It was a highlight of our 2 month trip! Could not recommend it highly enough - such great value for money. Do not drive the west coast without doing this!

We had the most amazing, informative day with Stephen at Barrytown Knife making. Starting from a block of wood and a piece of steel to taking home a knife you could imagine buying in a shop. Lunch was provided as was sparkling wine and beer at the end of the day. Already planning our next trip when people come out... More

It was an awesome experience! The 2 hosts (Robyn and Steven) are so niec and made the day to one of the funniest ones! The opportunity to make ur own knife is unique and I would definitely recommend it to spend a day at that lovely house. Much love to the 2 hosts!

This was an absolutely brilliant day. Steven and Robyn immediately make you feel welcome in your home and, despite there being a group of 10 of us all making knives at different stages, always make you feel like you have their individual attention. Steven puts a lot of work into each knife without ever making it feel like it's not... More

Me and two friends went on a Saturday. Had a great day experiencing how knifes are made hands on and Stephen and his wife Robyn are lovely people with a wealth of knowledge from a really skilled craftsmanship. Stephen helps forge, shape and whittle the knife making sure that you produce a quality knife you can keep for ever. Well... More

About 20 minutes south of Greymouth you will find Barrytown on the scenic coastal road. look out for the sign a cut out of a knife then up the long drive to meet Steven and Robyn. They are great fun and you will learn the skills to make a knife from scratch. Steven is a typical west coaster a bit... More

A must do if you are in the area. Steven and Robyn are great fun and you will make a great knife from scratch. It was worth the money just to listen to Steven talk, one of the best days I've ever spent on holiday.

I stumbled across this day out, it's a must do. Steven and Robyn are a great couple. Not only will you leave with a brilliantly crafted knife, you'll be entertained all day long, with Steven's hilarious personality and many other activities (axe throwing, ninja star throwing to name but a few!!)
