About
The Diocesan Museum of Ostuni is found on the ground floor of the ancient Episcopal Hall, formerly the home of the Bishops of the ‘White City’. The museum, opened in August 2017, was designed to contain artworks originally housed in the Treasury of the Co-Cathedral Chapter, and from the Chapter Archeological Collections and art treasuries of local churches and monastries belonging to the Benedictine order (1519) and the Carmelite order (1730). In order to create an enjoyable, educational and cultural atmosphere, descriptions of the works of art in caption form have been added throughout the museum (an audio version is also available as an QR code for smarthphones). The aim is place our visitors, both adults and children, at the centre of the museum experience, awakening their thirst for culture via the museum’s innovative approach. Teodoro De Giorgio, Art Historian and Scientific Curator of the Museum

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

WARNING!! Completely ripped off. Having paid the €5 (each)) entrance we realised none of the descriptions were in English. Asking for the translation we were told they were “finished”. What a pointless visit. We asked for a refund and were rudely refused point blank. Frankly dishonest behaviour. I’ve put it down to a bad experience and a donation to the museum. So before you part with a cent make sure the English translation is available or just give it a miss altogether,

Impressive collection of mind-blowingly ancient artifacts and remains. Provides a brief English summary booklet of the museum at the entrance (the exhibits are exclusively written in Italian), which was helpful to some extent but could have been more thorough. In any case, you can still certainly read the years on the exhibits, which gets the message across. The marquee exhibit of a particular set of remains was quite memorable.

Great surprise visiting this museum.
It looks like a normal church but isn't. Left of the abside there are many rooms with an important and sad story. A mom, died 25000 years ago who was pregnant. Some one cried her and her son passed away.
Very nice the semi hologram that tells her story.
Good job Ostuni.

Ostuni is a very pretty area to walk around and this is a nice spot to rest and get out of the heat during the summer.

Excellent small museum, well worth a visit. Laid out in a contemporary fashion, it is easy to miss, but well worth a look in if you like local history.

This little Museum/ gallery is right next door to the lovely cathedral in Ostuni. It looks unassuming from the outside but is a lovely oasis inside with some amazing artwork and historical artefacts. The small Bishops Garden at the back of the museum with views overlooking the surrounding countryside is well worth seeing. The staff were very helpful & enthusiastic about their Museum which just opened in August '17. Entrance fee was just 4euro without any discount which is terrific value. Enjoy!

We happened to pass by just before close time and were lucky enough to get a private tour from a very friendly guy who worked there and possibly curated the museum.
Even without a guide though it would be easy to enjoy the visit as the text near each exhibit is exhaustive and interesting (both Italian and English). There are also panels with games for children to enjoy. Really interesting objects and paintings. Highly recommended.
