My daughter and I popped in just before driving back to Christchurch and it was probably the highlight of our trip! A beautiful layout with friendly staff who went above and beyond to give extra vegetables for feeding the animals. The picnic area was great- sandpit and trampoline included! I had a lovely toasted sandwich- would have loved a barista made coffee is all that was missing! We will be back!

Both My Wife & Myself Really Enjoyed Revisiting The Animal Farm Park in Its Bigger & Better Suroundings & I am very Impressed with how Animal Friendly it is. The owner has Shade Houses in all Enclosers for The Animals.
The Animals all Look Happy & Bright too.
The Owner & Staff are all very Friendly & Polite & only too happy to help.
They have new Animals like Water Baffalow & Red & Fallow Deer, There is Gunea Pigs & few other animals.
I Thoroughtly Recommend The Park to anyone visiting Hanmer Springs & it is suitable for all ages & Childern. They have a Cafe too.
Thank you for a very Enjoyable Visit to The Owner & Staff. If ever back in Hanmer We will Return again. Money Well Spent on Supporting The Park too

I’m not sure how others are rating this as a good experience, we left heart broken and sad for the animals. Living in small pens with gravel and little to no grass or shade on such a hot day, this was so awful to see. The Animals were thin and starving and visibly unhappy in the heat. So many of them were alone like the horses and they had no grass or food to eat. This is not a good example of Animal welfare, the kids were really upset to see how unhappy the animals were. Definitely would not return or spend any money here

The SPCA have been and visited (unannounced) most likely as a result of this review and they are completely satisfied with our operation. They were happy with the pens, shelters and livestock misters for hot days and the condition and management of all the animals. To call the animals at Hanmer Springs Animal Park thin and starving is beyond ridiculous. Our animals have plenty of food to eat (maybe you didn't see their hay crates). If you visit toward the end of the day the crates are sometime low or empty as the animals are let out to graze in the afternoon. We also have to monitor food intake as our customers also feed the animals. The gravel is to look after their feet when it is wet. We have no problem that you didn't enjoy the experience and were concerned about animals in the heat, but to make incorrect claims is not acceptable. We hope that you might consider the kind of damage reviews like this can do to small businesses. Available anytime to discuss your concerns 03 3157772.

Went to visit here this afternoon on a extremely hot day. The animals are very friendly, especially when they realize you have food. I loved the goats, especially the one who decided to climb our

The park is at a new location with lots of work going on to make it a fun place to visit. The animals are all well cared for and are characters.

This was a great place to stop and see some super cute and cool animals. It was thrilling trying to feed the big birds & water bison, super fun feeding all of the other animals. So many cute and friendly animals to pat and see! Great for the kids or any animal lover. (recommend to wear gumboots for rainy or winter days as it got a little muddy)

Liked the previous space better up in the mountains as it was greener and cooler, and more intimate. Beware the pond where the ducks are (towards the water buffalo) - as the water was stagnant there were sandflies and boy we got bitten. You can get really up close and personal with some of the animals like the deer (they are a bit aggressive!) and the wallabies (very docile!) which is nice.

Our family of 2 adults and 2 teenage children really enjoyed the animal park. It is a great experience being able to get up so close to the animals and feed them. Interesting to see the Water Buffalo up so close and being able to interact with some of the animals in their enclosures.

Recently relocated and still bedding in, this was very popular with our son. We all enjoyed hand-feeding ostriches, emus, goats, sheep, llamas, alpacas, geese and ducks, and also petting the donkeys, miniature horses. Texas longhorn cattle wallabies water buffalo and pigs rounded out the menagerie: plus rabbits and guinea pigs in lovely shelters. Will benefit from more shade in future.

We loved the experience of animals, some of which we'd never been up close to before. We like the lunch we had too.
