Worth the trip! Hydro slides are great, all of them, a little freaky but once you’ve done it once they were awesome! So many pools to choose from, best hot pools I’ve ever been too, and we’ve been to a few!

Spent a couple pleasant of hours at the Pools and was surprised how many pools they have amongst a very picturesque setting. Great therapy for recovery of fractured foot and hand. Worth spending a few days in Hanmer to enjoy this facility

Lots of pools to choose from for all the family. A few thermal hot soaking pools. Clean pools and facilities. Pretty costly though.

Beautifully clean pools which are a huge draw card to the area. Vast array of different pools to try within the complex.
I'd love to see a sign reminding patrons they can get a worthwhile discount by showing their AA card.
Unfortunately I only learned about that after visiting the pools :-(
Had a great time here, thanks!

Opens at 10am, we got there just after 11, certainly wasn’t crowded and we could really move freely throughout all the pools. We also treated ourselves to a private thermal pool for 1/2 hour also. The hydro slides were awesome, both loved and terrified by them we had several goes at all three. Then spent time chilling and relaxing afterwards in the remainder of the pools. Each of the pools are different temperatures and with different combinations of salts and minerals. Love the water features, waterfalls, the cafe everything. There are plenty of staff and lifeguards ready to help should you need assistance.

Wonderful few hours, soaking, relaxing and enjoying all that the pools have to offer. My husband even took one of the rides and thoroughly enjoyed it. Had lunch here too.

We were here after Easter and in the school holidays. It was a nice relaxing soak in a variety of different temperature pools and the thermal pools with the trace minerals are the best! The kids can do the slide and entertainment, so no splashing and dashing in the main pools. Changing Facilities are clean with good showers etc and love the spin dryer for the togs.

We really love a soak at the thermal pools and visit a few times a year. We were there over the Anzac day weekend, and enjoyed our visit, although we found it a bit crowded. Four days later we all have COVID, as do some friends who we saw at the pools. We wore masks in the changing areas, but not in the pools. We had been very careful to avoid COVID outside of this trip to the pools. So be aware that the current measures are not enough to stop COVID infection and its a bit of a superspreader experience, particularly on crowded weekends.

Thanks for visiting and taking the time to leave a review. Sorry to hear your family has COVID and we hope it hasn’t hit you all too hard.
We are confident that the measures we have in place, along with the outdoor nature of the pools makes us a safe place to visit, however will take this feedback on board. We hope to see you all for another visit soon.

Unsurprisingly, very good.
Quite busy over Easter, but lots of room in the pools. A little queue for the slides, but nothing to worry about.
Would love to come back.

Are the water slides and kids pools also heated please? Or just the “thermal” pools?
Thanks
Milly
Hanmer Springs, New Zealand
Yes they are, our waterslides and Family Activity Pool vary between 28 degrees and 33 degrees.
Thanks,
Milly

Do we need to book? We're planning a visit the day after Kaikoura whale watching, but we may have to be flexible if whale watching is rescheduled. It's for the end of July.

Hi there, I have dry itchy skin. Are hot pools good or bad for this condition?
Marketing_HSTPS
Hanmer Springs, New Zealand2 contributions
Hi there.
It really does depend on your skin condition. Our pools are all heated with Thermal water however some do have chlorine except for the Sulphur pools that are pure natural mineral water. The Sulphur pools also have Silica.
Silica is an essential element involved in rebuilding and maintaining these tissues. ....Google this as you will find it has rewarding elements. If you are worried please consult your doctor.

My husband has a wound on his leg from knocking it on his bike pedal 2 days ago. Is there any chance of infection from the water? We would like to come and soak over next couple of days.

He maybe best to call healthline. The thermal waters are natural so he should be ok but best call a professional to be sure.

Is there shelter for spectators if it is cold and wet? And not just the café? Thanks.
TylerAdams85

Hi Sorcha, There are a few sheltered spots around the sides of the facility, including umbrellaed areas around some of the pools. It would still be advised to bring a jacket or warm clothing if you plan to be a spectator. Hope to see you soon 🙂
