At Mountain View Massage Day Spa we aim to fuse the best of Pampering Bliss Experience with Holistic Care individual service. We run a homely Day Spa within relaxing retreat environment in the beautiful wellness village of Hanmer Springs. In Jan 2015 we relocated to the beautiful premises launched as Vibrant Living Retreat which is located 88 Rippingale Rd. The retreat location is a 15-20 min walk from the hot pools or 5 min drive. We recommend that our Vibrant Living Retreat & Mountain View Day Spa clients take a dip in Hanmer Springs Thermal Pools pre-treatments if this is possible for maximum lasting benefit and value. At our retreat location we also offer Spa Escape Packages, Girls Escape Packages and longer pampering packages. The sky is definitely not the limit here ! A place where magic happens ...

During the last few years I had booked massages at Mountain View Retreat approx every 6mnths, so using their website I booked two 2hour massages for myself & adult daughter, however it turned out that the owner had not updated the website & it was an old price showing which she would not honour. I understand it is illegal not to honour an advertised price, however I did not want to make too much of an issue in fear of a poor massage. I should have stood my ground as it was the worse massage I have ever had from any massage therapist. I wouldn't call it a massage, it was a light fairy rub down with only a few techniques repeated over & over & over again! in spite of my request for a deep tissue massage for my back, neck & shoulders and a little less pressure for the rest of my body. In the past I have experienced good massages from Mountain View however after this experience I will never return here again.

HI Ruby, Just seeing your review. Hey hun we always happy to refund if you did not feel your massage was ok and especially to returning customers ( well previously were ~ ! ) . Our prices are for quality massage and a more than fair value of exchange.
At the very least , we very happy to do you a discount, however you sound really unhappy with what you received so I think a full refund would be in order. However how was your daughters massage BTW ? . Please call or text me Mary Jo on 0212802447 or email : info@vibrantliving.co.nz

I had 3 massages with Mary Jo during the course of a recent juice retreat and am soooo impressed! I have to say she gives one of the best massages ever, and I've had a lot and am a bodyworker myself! I can't praise her talent and skill enough, she is sensitive, attuned, masterful and thorough. Go ahead and book a session with her - I promise you won't regret it. Plus Hamner is a gorgeous place to visit and such an uplifting location for her massage studio with gorgeous views of the mountain and in a quiet peaceful garden setting.

What a find! After our usual place in Hanmer was fully booked I came across Mountain View on Google and with high reviews we decided to give it a try. We booked in for a couples massage and it was fantastic - they listened to our needs and tailored their service. Afterwards we got a delicious piece of raw slice with a glass of water. We will be back, thank you!

I had a one hour massage at Mountain View Day Spa. It was the best massage I’ve ever had- super relaxing and my therapist was great. I was late getting in contact one weekend and Mary Jo was amazing at accommodating me and fitting me in at late notice. Thanks again!!

I booked the solo pamper pack: Heavenly bliss and harmonise followed by a facial which was both nurturing and relaxing. I received a most generous time allocation for the treatment. Many thanks! Highly recommended.

My wife and I have a massage here everytime we go to Hanmer and it is always excellent. It is more like a retreat and not a commercial-style operation like you find in the main village. We both thouroughly enjoyed this latest massage. Awesome!

My husband and I enjoyed an extremely relaxing 1.5hr couples massage then facial. We both felt totally blissed out and thoroughly relaxed afterwards. A beautiful location, very peaceful with bird song mountain views, and delicious herbal tea post treatment. We wholeheartedly recommend this tranquil haven :-)

I was traveling in New Zealand with two of my girlfriends. We booked a massage together at Mountain View massage. I had the best massage ever. They were great and really made the experience wonderful. If you have time, try to book a restorative yoga session. We couldn’t make that but wished we could have.

Was a delight staying at mountain view after the 120 km bicycle ride down from St Arnaud. The room was very comfortable, food was superb, the massage just what I needed, and I enjoyed the company of Mary Jo and Steve. Was even able to wash my bike :-) Will return another time with my wife as it was such a pleasant experience. Highly recommended!

I brought a deal of grab one for a nights accomodation with shared bathroom massages and pool passes for $199. Well my husband and I went last weekend and were very disappointed. It's advertising was very misleading when we got there we discovered it was somebody's house. Our room was a bedroom with simply a bed in it bathroom was right beside it you could hear any door in the house shut we felt so uncomfortable and the fact there wasn't really anywhere we could sit too enjoy some quality time away along with feeling like we had to whisper in the room made us decide not to stay. We had our massages which we'd booked for just after our arrival. Even the massage wasn't that good to what I normally get they didn't really do anything for me. They didn't even get any knots out it was just like someone rubbing up and down on your back. Needless to say I was bitterly disappointed and felt totally ripped off. Unless you don't mind staying in just a bedroom at someone's else I wouldn't stay here. Good way for them to pay the mortgage with how much they charge.

Yes always good to book in advance if you require a specific day and time. However if you are flexible we should be able to get you in over a few days stay in Hanmer.
