the Boatshed Kayaks, was set up by Richard Clark in 2000, on his property on the edge of Lake Karapiro. We offer a number of different kayaking and stand up paddle board options from our great waterfalls trip to our evening glow worm experience, just flick through our website to get a better idea for whats available. Lake Karapiro offers an exellent venue with sheltered waters and 15 km of lake to explore. making it a safe and beautiful environment to try something new. our guides and instructors are fully qualified in both flat water and graded river paddleing so if your wanting to explore some of the lower sections of the waikato river between cambridge and hamilton youll be in safe hands. The Boatshed kayaks is also involved in multisport training and hire and has been training grade 2 paddlers for over 8 years, with a huge number of paddlers experiencing their introduction to kayaking through The Boatshed. The ethos at the Boatshed has always been on getting people out there paddling, young and old, and therefore growing kayaking as a sport or recreational activity.

Had heaps of fun kayaking at the Lake. No waves, so kayaking was easy. Had a small stop in the middle and had some snacks provided by the hosts. Drifted back to the campsite slowly to see the glow worms. Was a great experience. Would do it again.

A fun canoe trip on lake Karapiro, thru great scenery with only the noise of the paddles in the water. Stop for a wine & cheese & crackers by a small open fire to wait for the dark, then paddle back thru the gorge to see the glow-worms. We had the most awesome star lite night with only the odd... Excellent experience and highly recommend it to others. The kayaking is comfortable and cruzy, great guides and we were lucky we had a stunning evening with clear skies filled with stars and moonlight. The night paddling through the gorge is a great experience with plenty of glow worms to see. The campfire with wine, cheese, crackers, hot chocolate and marshmallows... More

Pleasant easy kayak trip on Lake Karapiro, an informative trip by the guide across the lake and up the canyon. An hours stop on the river bank with some cheese and bikkies and a glass of wine. The trip back through the canyon, all rafted up at night was good, incredible number of glow worms. Generally a good trip.

We did this as a family activity. It was fantastic, I encourage everyone to take a trip. My husband and son have kayaked before but this was my first time. Darby was patient and explained how to steer the kayaks. The trip up the stream in the late afternoon was beautiful. We stopped to enjoy cheese and crackers with wine... More

My wife and I booked this the day before. Thankfully, they were accommodating. The adventure started in a lake by docks about a 15 minute ride from their headquarters. We met first at Boatshed, filled out paperwork, then caravanned to the start point. We kayaked with our guide, Darby, and other members of our group across the lake to the... More

Three of us had made a booking to hire paddle boards for an hour. We turned up and got ignored by the staff member while he sorted out numerous other people and their kayaks, then disappeared for almost an hour to drop some people off and left us sitting in a shed waiting no idea when he was coming back....
