The short boat trip to Herren-Insel is very nice with great views. The picturesque road to the castle complex is very pleasant and the grounds are beautiful even in winter. Interesting museum/castle left by Ludwig II. The English speaking guide was pleasant and knowledgeable.

Although the museum is not that big it is interesting. Simply because of the fascinating live he had. We now visited all of his castles. Really great we got this museum as a bonus. It is free if you have a ticket of the "Königschloss".

Loved this little gem. It’s free with your palace tour and worth the time. It’s very informative and well laid out. Many interesting pieces.

Who was Ludwig II? Why did he keep building such opulent palaces? And what happened to him? These are some of the questions that the museum aims to answer, and it does it very well. We went into the museum before we did the tour...More
