Lovely row of beachhuts
Sep 2021
We walked from Margate to Broadstairs and got the train back, this was one of the stops. Loved the row of beachuts - do walk down to the shore line and along them all as all painted differently and lovely to look at up close.

An ideal spot for families
Aug 2021
Nestling beneath the cliffs, Stone Bay, which is not as crowded as Viking Bay, can be reached by either walking down the steps at East Cliff Promenade (roadside parking) or by walking along the promenade from the harbour car park. There are brightly coloured beach huts and wide stretches of sand, even when the tide is in. An ideal spot for families. Lifeguards operate from May to September (from 10am to 6pm) and, during the same time, dogs are not allowed on the sands.

A fine sandy beach surrounded by chalk cliffs.
Jun 2021
We passed Stone Bay whilst walking a section of the Viking Coastal Trail between Margate and Broadstairs. Having travelled from Joss Bay via the North Foreland lighthouse, we passed inland of the private North Foreland estate and regained the coast at the north end of Stone bay via a footpath from Stone Road.
Stone Bay has a fine sandy beach surrounded by chalk cliffs with both a café and toilet facilities. At the base of the cliffs colourful beach huts line the sands. On the day of our visit (midweek, early afternoon) the beach was quite busy with groups of sun worshippers and a school party all enjoying the sand and sea.
In comparison to the much more popular Viking Bay at Broadstairs, Stone Bay has a much more private feel about it and the absence of any amusement or funfair distractions would make this an ideal place for a young family to enjoy the pleasures of a day out by the seaside.

Quieter than Broadstairs

We had a good swim when it was nearly high tide. The weather was amazing and the sea a great temperature.

Real hidden gem this is the beach to go to!
May 2021 • Family
Loved our visit here. Free parking on the cliff top above which is a bonus.
We did some great rock pooling here and caught lots of fish and about 5 different species of crab. The kids loved it.
The beach is very safe as life guards on duty and the bay was quite shallow. Really advise checking the tides as it does come in and out quite quick. (Be very careful if you venture round the side of the white cliffs we saw quite a few people get cut off and they had to wade back through the waves and this was a very nice calm sunny day so dread to think what it would be like if windy and rough) we did have a little walk in this area but made sure it was low tide. The beach is Sandy with a cafe and also toilets just up the steps. Also a cold water tap by the beach huts to wash your feet off etc. This is a great location for families with kids probably our favourite beach we visited on our weeks stay in the area.

A place for a restful day
Jul 2020
This is a nice, sandy, safe and silent beach, where you can collect many interesting rocks or you can have a relaxed sunbathing, without the noise of any seller.

Lovely Beach
Feb 2020
While staying in Broadstairs in February we decided to walk from Broadstairs to Botany Bay and seeing that the tide was out we decided to walk right along the sandy beach taking in Stone Bay. Being February, the beach was empty except for a few walkers. The beach was clean with tall chalk cliffs one side and the sea on the other. When the tide is in the walk along the beach is not possible.

Our regular beach
Aug 2019 • Family
Love this beach. Only drawback is stairs to get to it and a long walk to the loo. Have beach hut there so regulars. No commercial e to me distraction for the children. Make sure to pack a good picnic as refreshments limited and overpriced.

A great beach for families
Dec 2019
Just round the corner from Viking Bay (the main beach at Broadstairs) is the lovely Stone Bay. There's a promenade from Viking Bay to Stone Bay som its accessible for both pushchair and wheelchair users. Sone Bay, with its long stretches of sand, is a great beach for familys and for taking a walk on. At this time of the year it's also dog friendly because you can take your dog onto the beach at any time but, from May to September, dogs are not allowed on the beach between the hours of 10.00 am and 6.00 pm.

Best beach
Oct 2019 • Couples
This has to be the best sandy beach within an hour and a half from London whether by road or rail. Beautiful at any time of year.
