Building here was started in 1432. Well restored by Franciscans. It has a sumptuous altar. The legend is that a king, out hunting, found a cave with a carving of the Virgin Mary. The monastery was built to house the statue, and the church was...More

We were in Nayera and we went and see the Francescano Monastero that cost only 4 euro. It is a wonderful building. You get the feeling to go back in time in another era.

It had just stopped raining on a dreary sort of spring day, enough so that there was some sun to make the cloister a special place. This monastery is well-preserved and definitely worth the time to have a look. It is a find!

Its a pity its been rebuilt of over the ages as it could tell a story or two. The cloister and the royal staircase were the most interesting, the rest was ok. Built into a cliff as ou can see on the visit.

Well worth visiting, astounding example of gothic, plateresco and baroque styles. Historical and artistic interest.

Beautiful monastery. Incredibly well preserved. It is with the 4 euros to go for a visit. Very unique because it's cut into the side of a mountain.

This monastery is absolutely beautiful where you can enjoy the detailed architecture. It is a place not to be missed if you visit Nahera. They close at 7 pm and it costs 4 euros per person. A must visit place!

Monastery's history is interesting (a quick wiki read will give you the 'need to know' info!), and the cloister, choir, and sarcophagi and remarkable. We also visited Yuso, but still found this smaller, less-visited site well worth the time. The town of Najera is lovely...More

Small entrance fee for what is a big cavernous building...that started as a cave. Impressive open walking area (like a cloister?) with ornate stone work. Each arch is unique--look closely. Also, if you are into 'crypts' this is the place for you. Audio guide can...More
