Beautiful monastery with a lovely history and beautiful views
Our first attempt we got a transfer to Tsambika beach expecting to be able to visit the monastery however this is not possible. So we hire a Polaris from “Elephant rent a moto” in Rhodes and returned for our second attempt. It was worth it the history and story behind the monastery is lovely and the views once you are at the top are amazing. Word of warning there is 300 step so we did it early morning and it was cool and mostly shaded going up the steps, but not as hard as I expected.

Tough but inspiring hike, at least 1 hour probably 2
Tough hike up from the beach but worth it....I was up and down in 70 mins and I am quite fast. The trail is shaded in places but mostly exposed so take sunblock and drink....walking poles if you have them. Not for casual stroll, a technical hike, good shoes required, trail signposted and lots of loose boulders so tread carefully. There is a water tap at the top. Beautiful icons and inspirational views from the top. A pilgrimage you'll remember.

    Walk from Kolymbia
This was a great experience. The views on the top are truly astounding! I walked the trail from Kolymbia. The entrance is a bit “hidden” in the end of a road in between some resorts. It is well marked on google maps for instance. So easy enough to find. The hike upwards to towards the beginning of the stairs of 300 steps was very nice. It was a great experience to glance out over Kolymbia as I got higher and higher in the terrain. At the top was the monastery which was visited by several deeply religious people when I was there, so behaving respectfully would be a good idea.

    What a climb
The views are spectacular once you reach the top!!! We drove part way up, then climbed up a steepish hill to reach the 300 steps that you have to climb to get to the top. Having a fear of heights it took me some time but I did get to the top. It was well worth it. The steps are not very steep and wind around the mountain to the top. What was helpful was that they were numbered so you could see how many more you had to go.

Little bit scary road and steep the last part to the main parking but you do not have to drive that part because theres a parking available also before that, you only have to walk 200-300m plus.

15-20min stairs to the top or you can do it slower, there is restingspots on the way and the journey to the top is nice also. Halfway between theres nice stone sets on table.

Journey is nice to the monestry but when you arrive to the top the view is awesome!

Good shoes are plus and there is no working toilet on top.

This was on our list of must visits. I was not as impressed as the reviews reflected. It was nice and there was a gift shop. It seemed to a popular prayer spot for the locals. I thought that the grounds were not as pretty as some of our other stops.

Amazing view . Definitely worth to visit ⛪️. The only thing I need to mention is that are many stairs you need to climb

Would recommend driving to the car park to save a steep walk! The walk up the steps in the morning was nice and shaded with lots of rest spots. Amazing views along the coast

Picked this out on our way back from a beach day, must admit...we did not realise the many steps and climb was so vast...but...it is well worth the effort so do not let this out you off, simply stunning views that will stay with you forever

Worth the walk. Avoid to do it in a hot day. There is a parking and Bar but the road is tricky and very steep in some places so do go by car until it is allowed only if you are expert driver. Once you leave the car there are 300 and change steps that separate you from the Monastery and from a fantastic view of the bay of Tsambika and its long beach
