Lovely but watch out for the stalls!
Just a heads up when you see the small stalls with souvenirs (especially leading up to the old town). They sell baklava as a package of 2+1 as a deal. Went back home to find out the boxes were opened up and only 2 sweets per box were left. So total scam, best to buy them at the supermarkets. Besides that lovely visitting the old town. TODO BIEN is a nice place for some really good mojito´s (no watered down version)!

    Lovely but parking a mare.
Lovely place, so much to see and really friendly people, lots of shops and restaurants. Lost a star as one shop holder was slightly rude and parking was a mare! Prices very reasonable in the restaurants and shops as well.

Fabulous for all the right reasons. A medival town with 100s of cafes, restaurants, shops and cats. Loads to see, a tip if your eating out on a budget the restaurants to the northern part of the medival town are cheaper you can pick up a gyro for 3euro!! Mamma mikas did a great Greek salad. Felt I could of done a couple of days here and will definitely return.

    Beautiful and amazing
Went on hooray to Rhodes and stayed in the old town, I loved it!!! Everything is walkable. The history is interesting, buildings and architecture is beautiful. Lots of cafes and restaurants. Ocean is near and views are stunning. You have to be careful with the narrow streets and some scooters etc but all in all just a wonderful place. Very friendly and accepting. I’d go back.

    Lots of history and atmosphere
Lots of things to see you and in the old town of Rhodes. Some picturesque back streets although could do with more independent vendors that aren’t simply gift shops selling generic items. Busy and has a nice atmosphere albeit sellers approaching you to ask you to enter shop/restaurant a little off putting. Nice art and jewellery shop and a great historical area, with one of the old 7 wonders of the world, it is a good day out.

    Definitely worth a visit.
Loads of history and architecture to see. There any numerous small shops, restaurants and bars. The only place to avoid is the square closest to where the cruise ships dock as the bars don't display their prices and try to charge whatever they want. They convince many people into the beers in big boot glasses and cocktails in big bowl type glasses and charge silly money for them. No a good idea in the August heat as the beer is too warm to drink after about half way through those large glasses. Some service can be slow but definitely worth a visit as there loads of hidden gems to sea down every street.

It was so much fun to wander around Old Rhodes. It a beautiful backdrop steeped in history. The various squares are peppered with beautiful fountains. Everyone is hustling and bustling. There are tons of restaurants and souvenir shops. We really enjoyed the energy of the area.

    Stunning place to see.
Rhodes Old Town is stunning and it is definitely worth a day trip. However, there arent many fantastic places to eat or drink. The restaurants are all very similar and you are hounded as you walk by. We found a beautiful area down by the marina, the yacht club. They made yummy cocktails and we had club sandwiches. The old town has such a hiatoric feel amd.in the sun, everything looka better.

A beautiful and fascinating old town
We have just completed a week in Rhodes and have really enjoyed it. We stayed inside the old town which was a real bonus as we had easy access to all the shopping, eating and tourist attractions. Rhodes Old Towm is fascinating full of history and great architecture. Eating places are plentiful and generally very good. The town beach is within walking distance and is part of an attractive sea front. Rhodes old town is a great place for strolling and relaxing with plenty of interesting things to do

    Nice walk in different time
There are so many positives about Rhodes Town....it's simply beautiful. Walking inside the gates is just lovely... getting lost in all the side streets and finding old buildings, fountains, flowers. You can eat drink and relax in there. Stunning - you have to visit.

I think one star is even too high to explain how terrible it was. This restaurant is only recommended if you looking for discusting looks, taste and overcharged drink. No option to pay by card, no receipt... just avoid...

The medieval old walled town of Rhodes is simply breathtaking. We had no idea it was going to be so big and the walls so incredibly thick (12m) and intact in the most part. We spent several hours there and thoroughly enjoyed it. There are different areas within the walls with Turkish and Jewish areas as well as the formal grand buildings in the northern part.

When we left the Palace of the Grand Masters (reviewed separately) we saw an entrance to walk on the walls. A lady was giving out free tickets as only 100 people an hour were allowed. She told us it was a 2km one way walk and we would exit the walls in a completely different place. We thought she was joking as on most city walls you are lucky to get a few hundred metres before there is a gap as they no longer exist. She was not joking though and we were indeed able to walk an incredible 2km around maybe half the perimeter of the old town. The walls are 12m wide so the walk is safe and very impressive with fabulous views.

You could spend hours wandering the streets and alleyways within the old town discovering shops, cafes, restaurants, bars and private homes. It's a maze of delight sights and hard to take in the age of the place given how intact it all still is.

Great, lovely old town.
Walking through small, narrow streets, you feel like walking through a maze of memories.
Stone streets, smiling salesmen, greeting passers-by. There is no pushy.
The view of The Grand Master Palace is breathtaking.
We were only there for one day - it's not enough.
We will definitely come back in winter for the weekend - in September the weather was great but it was too hot for sightseeing.

It’s surprising just how big the old town is, with so many little streets and so much to see. If you manage to park near the harbour entrance where The Colossus once stood, it’s not only free, but a great starting point for walking into the old town. It’s easy to get lost and that’s half the point, just wander and enjoy. The only down side is the constant barrage of people wanting you to eat in their restaurant or if you stop to browse shopping, you are pounced on. It’s annoying and defeats the object as we simply bought from the backstreet shops who give you space and time and don’t do this heavy sell.

Brilliant white washed cobbled streets with the feel of the past everywhere. Just look down the smaller streets as you walk round it is so beautiful. The shops and cafes were reasonably priced meaning you can stop and enjoy without spending a fortune.

On return to the town of Rhodes from the acropolis of Lindos, our bus dropped us off at the Amboise Gate. We walked over the 3 moats and through the town to the Palace of the Grand Masters.
Lynda and I loved Rhodes. One of the best things about our visit was that we stayed overnight and were able to enjoy this wonderful city in the evening. We had beer and snacks at the Archipelagos Bar-Restaurant and watched the crowds pass by. And while we did not do a lot of shopping on this trip, we did find Rhodes to be one of the very best places for that (and we did get a beautiful Turkish rug). We stayed for 2 days at Rhodes but would have gladly made it a week.

We stepped off our cruise ship straight into one of the ten entrances of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. There are over 200 different streets to get lost in and as we had arrived early we got to see the whole place slowly waking up.
Check out the authentic Greek restaurants and grab a beer in one of the many drinking holes.
Take time to visit the Roloi clock Tower were you pay €5 to enter but this includes a drink of your choice and you get to climb to the highest vantage point of the old town with wonderful vistas.
Many of the shops will offer you a chance to sample their wares with no real pressure to make a purchase.

Rhodes Old town is one the loveliest old towns I have seen - but I want to concencrate that it has two sides. Very touristy areas, in which there are lots of tourist restaurants and boutiques, are pretty lame and trashy, but the quieter parts of the old town are lovely. Visit the side streets on which you find great restaurants, see the historical places like the city walls, wonderful small boutiques like La Magia which sells small items and jewellery made by Greek designers. Just wander there and get lost. Of course you should see the must sights too like Grand master`s palace etc too. I recommend eating crepes with Kinder bueno and white chocolate.

Amazing place! Definitely must visit it if you’re on the island. Magical atmosphere, charming tiny streets full of ancient buildings and history. A lot of small shops, bars and restaurants where you can stop and have some rest or buy some souvenirs. Sure I recommend to be visited in the evening, lights make it look even more magical and the temperature is a bit more livable. High hills are not a good choice :)

Rhodes old town is very old but well preserved. It is one of the biggest old towns I have visited and you can wonder there for hours and hours going through the windy streets and venturing into the gift shops. There are numerous sites of historical value such as the museum, the palace and gallery. You can get a combi ticket for 10 euros for this and it is worth it.
The clock tower is also worth a visit. It is 5 euros and you get a drink from the bar.
