Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Combine it with a walk around the city and the port! its a really nice place to visit! Tip: wear your hat and have cool water with you, during summer the weather is too hot!

Thalassini Pyli is one of the 11 gates providing entry into the Medieval City. This is the most famous one. It was so named because this was the main entrance to the town from the harbor. The Virgin Mary, Saint Peter, and John the Baptist are in carved above the arched door. With the entrance so close to the water, the reduced space between the sea and the walls meant that no army could mass to attack from this side.
The gate was repaired in 1951 after being bombed in WWII; There is a relief of the Virgin Mary, Saint Peter and John the Baptist above the arched door.

TIP: Great place for a photo shot.

Great entrance to the city and a wonderful photo op. Gives one a feeling of being back in Medieval times. Must see it while in Rhodes. Its popular with tours and cruises so go early. Just imagine the people as knights and towns people and you are right back there,,,,,maybe even a dragon or two,,,,,

Thalassini Pyli or Marine Gate is one of the most famous gates among the eleven accesses to the medieval city of Rhodes.

This iconic and imposing landmark was constructed in 1478. It is the main entrance from the harbor to the city.

This is one of the 10 gates into the old city. It is certainly one of the most impressive with high walls and notches at the top. Great photo opportunity and useful entrance.

beautifully constructed with its crown like top and carved notches? Standing proud and high it was an imposing feature in the town.
