Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A beautiful place, just a shame about all those people with a personality disorder. It's a small area and a bit too many people. These people all want to be the Golem and sit on 'the' stone (a bit of a course over stones, hopefully you don't break a leg), nice for the photo, less nice for my photo, who wants people in the photo of this nice place, probably the people who find themselves quite interesting.

Nice easy walk from the road. Viewing platform at top of falls and can walk further down track to river edge and over some of rocks to get better view of base of waterfall.
When we went there was a school group with the Hillary Centre that were jumping from the top of the waterfall! Such an awesome (and scary for some) experience for them. I’d like to think it was my words of encouragement “don’t overthink it, just do it, you will feel so proud of yourself once you do it” that helped the last girl her who had been freaking out standing at the top for quite some time take her jump. The instructor/teacher said he thought it was the words of encouragement from a complete stranger that likely helped as he really thought she wasn’t going to do it. 😊

We visited here during peak summer season and arrived around mid-morning. I was surprised to see only one other car in the little gravel parking area. A short little 15 minute walk, and we were at the falls. The pool beneath the falls has a lovely aqua-green color. This is a beautiful spot for pictures if you decide to climb on the rocks closer to the pool. Only saw two other sets of tourists the whole time we were there.

Lovely waterfalls to see with parking just off the main road. Sneakers a must, as is a carrier - not stroller / push car friendly. Total time needed is twenty to thirty minutes round trip.

Nice easy walk and my wife and I enjoyed it very much, especially the photographs we took of the falls. However, I people my age should nit be tempted to scramble over the rocks to get better photos, very risky. Small car park may be an issue at busy times,

Just off the highway, has a small carpark. Very short walk (20 minutes return) to a lovely 13 m waterfall, used in LOTR films (Gollums pool). Well worth a look and can climb over rocks to get a better view. Water was a really blue. Kids would enjoy.

Look out for the sign on the left hand side of the road to Whakapapa Village. There is a small car park. The walk is lovely, short and mostly shaded. The path is clear with some stairs to a viewing platform and down to the river, below the falls. It is a very pretty spot with a turquoise pool at the base of the 13m high waterfall. Definitely worth a visit.

Beautiful spot, great place for a cd dip on a hot day. Some brave people jumped from the top. Short walk, steepish stairs down to the pool. Didn’t quite see Gollum though…

Short 20 minute walk to these falls. Two areas to view. First is a wooden platform and then if you carry on for a bit and go down you get a nicer view and an area where you can go in the river - if you wish. Very pretty and peaceful falls,
