If you use your imagination, you can just about hear Gollum singing his song as he fishes in the pool at the bottom of the falls. Otherwise, you can enjoy the short walk to this waterfall, stand at the top, climb across the rocks at...More

Parking at the start of the walk down, worthwhile visiting, lovely to see, and first thing in the morning had the place to ourselves.

One of the short walks on the Tongariro National Park. Very easy 10min walk to the falls. One of the filing locations for Lord of the Rings and easy to see what. Even in the rain it was a great short walk.

Located on the road to Whakapapa village. A small roadside car park, Short walk (15-20mins) along well made path. A scenic waterfall without being spectacular. If in the area well worth visiting.

This is spectacularly pretty, very close to the road so only a 20 minute walk. As with all the marked paths we followed in NZ it was well made, maintained and signed.

A nice flat 10-minute walk, with a view of a very picturesque waterfall. Used as Gollum’s Pool in Lord of the Rings. Not much space, and you need to scramble a bit to find locations where your pictures won’t be photo-bombed. Also, the parking area...More
